Smoking Kills Dancing Doe Doesn't look too good does it?

If we've set a price, Villa will match it.

Now they're in the Uefa Cup I agree, yes. MA said in the week he now needed a few more players to bolster his squad, so could well be.

Hope not!

Not sure it adds anything to the debate. Seems to be speculation based on Doyle's interview after the game, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Express says Doyle is set to miss out on a move the Villa and Reading fans should be suitably grateful!

Good.

But I still don't think we'll have 5 strikers this time tomorrow morning.

Lita or Doyle will go, sure of it.

I reckon on no more transfer activity involving Reading this window.

So that's it until January.

As agreed on here, £7.5 million is a good price for Doyle...but only if the money is to be reinvested in a striker equal or better than him...and as is the Reading way...I think that we all know that it wouldn't be.

We have signed Mooney and Hunt and I reckon that Lita will be the only player to go today, and to be fair I'm not really bothered by that. Lita has/had potential but his arrogance has overtaken him and he is trying to run before he can walk. Take £3 million and run.

Neither N.Hunt, Mooney or Long are quite the finished article yet so to sell both Doyle and Lita would be criminal.....personally i'd like to see Long go out on loan somewhere and have a season of starting every week for someone else.

If Doyle left we would not sign a replacement. Which is why i want Doyle to stay with the club!

Can't we get rid of Lita and bring in another Irishman?

I think that is how most of us feel.

At the same time Lita is hardly the finished article - also his contract expires in a year's time, so we'll end up getting nothing if we don't sell him soon.

Arguably we already have - one striker has left the club and two have signed. So if one more went, would we need to sign another?

Because unlike Doyle who was so obviously a star when we signed him the strikers selected and signed by the same team who found Kitson are 'not good enough' and another 'backwards step'

Perhps Cureton is available?

Quality not quantity. We had a lot of players who were not good enough last season, didn't help us one bit. Going into next season with Lita (who Coppell clearly doesn't want here), Long, Hunt and Mooney, all of whom are totally unproven is risk not worth taking.

Any other club would not sell Doyle unless they had a proven Championship striker lined up to replace him.

In the promotion season I recall people on here saying (at the start of the season) that Doyle wasn't the finished product yet. By the time we 'd played CPFC you couldn't get him out of the team. Things develop faster than some people like to think.

Hunt N is ready and we all see that. Mooney is yet to be seen (other than a cameo in the cup), so who knows, Long is a good CCC squad player who has the potential to be better if he allows himself the room to develop. Add in the possibility that the coaching team are expecting some more academy developers to come into the squad, and it doesn't look too bad at all.

From the BBC

1129: Kevin Doyle is still a Reading player but he has, apparently, been spotted everywhere from Newcastle to Villa so far today.

FWIW i'm with stranded on this one, 4 strikers is enough at this level so to lose Lita or Doyle wouldn't be the end of the world however personally I would love to lose Lita and keep Doyle! Everyone talks about strikers and the goals they score but to be fair there are a few others within the side more than capable of finding the net i.e. S Hunt, Harper etc

Spot on, although I'd suggest that it would be criminal to let either go given what you rightly say about N Hunt, Mooney and Long.

If this on BBC site is true then looks unlikely that Doyle il go to Villa
