royalsteve rate ince highly would be a great capture, but cant see it happening as im sure either liverpool or soton would outbid us and liverpool have the history/more chance of european games

Liverpool have said they won't pay 8m for a player they sold to Blackpool for 250,000, plus they are getting Coutinho in so they are pretty much out of the equation. Southampton are looking for an attacking midfielder but haven't yet shown any interest in Ince since the summer. Hopefully with a new manager, he'll have different ideas. Redknapp… who knows

Reading boss Brian McDermott is confident of beating Liverpool to Tom Ince's signature and believes it shows they can compete with the top clubs for highly-rated young players.
The Blackpool forward has been one of his main targets for a while but was strongly linked with a return to Liverpool this month, who let him go in 2011.
Ince, 20, has scored 15 goals in 29 league matches this season, attracting the interest of top clubs.
Reading are waiting for Blackpool to respond to their offer and McDermott said: 'Possibly [we can't compete] financially but I think we can compete as far as what we can offer. It has to feel right for the players, myself and our club. I definitely feel we can compete because we have a good environment for players to develop.
That has proven over a number of years. A lot of younger players want to come to us because they get that opportunity to develop and do well.'
When asked if the transfer would be testament to how far the club have come, he replied: 'Yes that's a good point if you consider where we were and where we are now. We do develop players and we've done that over a long period of time. It's testament to what we've done in the past 10-12 years.'
It is understood the club have offered Blackpool £6.5million for the player who McDermott sees playing in the No 10 role or on the left or right wing.
And the 51-year-old added: 'It would be decent money for this club. Thomas Ince has got a very big future in the game. He scores goals, he makes goals, he's got good feet, he can go left, he can go right. He's got a great attitude.'

southbank1871 This may be bullshit, but I've been told it's almost a done deal and that Ince is having his medical with us tomorrow.
