Snowball
Elm Park Pasty It's not a certainty Pog will score more (although I am extremely hopeful that he will). Kevin Doyle's goal to game ratio was worse last season than it was for the two seasons before the relegation one. So it is possible for someone to do worse I suppose but I would hope Pog is going to do better. You can only score chances if they exist, whether you have created them or someone else. Hopefully this year with defences of less quality he will get more.

I presume he will, but even if he scores THREE TIMES as many, that's 15 a season for a whole lotta wages

It's not that I don't like him, and I think he might just EXPLODE in the Championship
but he doesn't strike me as great value for money and I'd want him as fourth striker
if we went back up

I'd much prefer players like Noel Hunt, who'd be good for 15 or so in a full Champ season, on about a third of the money

To be honest I am not sure we are in a position now where we have to worry that much about 'value for money', and after all, it is not our money. I am more concerned that either Pog sticks the ball in the net or assists the team in doing the same thing. If you buy in a cheap striker than there will be a reason they are cheap, either they will be untested or just useless. With Rhodes going to BRFC last season for £7.5M, I think you could say that chances are there are very few complete bargains out there anymore, and let's face it, the fact that Rhodes is being talked about as a potential £6.5M target for CPFC just shows how bad a deal that was last year. Who else is out then? Austin? and..........?????? If Pog does the business then that is good enough for me.

All this love in for an SPL striker.

Simon Church scored a brilliant goal at Leeds. Argument over.

Can we either change the title of this thread to snowballs stats about Pogrebnyak or can Snowball get back on topic please?

'Brilliant goal' might be a tad eager.

Well, he had that one brilliant goal, one from a stupid back-pass and just three others from 26 starts and 3 sub appearances.

Never let the occasional flashy goal cloud judgement.

Let's not forget his unselfish work up front, his tireless running that allowed Le Fondre to captialise against tired defenders, aye?

Anyone remember the cracking goal Churchy scored towards the end of his breakthrough season?

He really looked like he'd be a great player after that year, and then Mcdermott started evolving towards a style that just didn't suit him as a player and now his career is oxf*rd.

A style based on being able to kick a ball in the direction you intended?

Don't recall him having much issue with his passing.

Controlling the ball under pressure, dealing with being a lone target man yeh he wasn't great at that. Which is why he wasn't suited to the direction Mcdermott took us after Gylfi left.

Church would kick the ball with his eyes shut. The direction of each kick was decided pre-match by a spinner out of Twister.

Wtf is everyone on about.

Re: Gary hooper, is he on the cards at all or is this mindless speculation?

What are the rumours and the chances, other than Adkins once managed him?

Ta.

EP says we spoke to the player but hadn't agreed a fee as of middle of last week. Highly doubtful he'll come here over PL clubs.

Agreed. Given the opinion of some on this site that Pog is dump, can anyone remember the defender Pog gave the slip to there? (Bearing in mind that as a defender for Ex-Champions League winners Chelsea, he is not going to be any better then those who turn out for Donny or Yeovil next season :D )
