I just hope none of them get injured before the Brighton game.

BBC Sport's Luke Reddy reports: "Dave Whelan has just told me Wigan have agreed a deal to take Manchester United's Nick Powell on a season-long loan.

Whelan said: "We obviously had Tom Cleverley on loan and I think United were happy with the job we did with him, so it's good news that we've got the lad.

Ahh I see the everton guys were doing their job!

That's the nature of that league though, results tend to swing depending on who's home or away.

I didn't need cheering up to begin with, I couldn't care less if we sign anyone tonight.

Good player, won't tear up the championship single-handedly but a decent addition nevertheless

fabulous bit of business, letting a promising CB go before getting a replacement in, you couldn`t make it up.

WTF

So Adkins says he wants 2 players originally, we then lose Kebe & Mapps bringing in 5m and we are yet to sign anybody.

Interesting chat with Adkins

He said that in his opinion we should have won all of our first five league games.

Recommended the book The Numbers Game

Agrees with said book that it's 50% luck but also, "About momentum"

I said that IMO Kebe and Marriappa "had been gone for weeks". He didn't disagree.

Suggested nod-nod wink-wink that the loan window was about to start...

Said he been to watch the under 21s and agreed that Ugwu had promise and that it was up to him (Nige) to get them playing time. He added he always managed that at his other clubs esp saints

That's a good signing if true. I'd quite like to have seen him come here but, realistically, I'd imagine Man Utd would rather he went to a local side. We'd be more likely to tap into the talent at the London clubs than those up north.

Obviously the display at Peterboro last Tuesday convinced Adkins, Hammond et al that the squad, after losing Kebe and Mariappa, is strong enough to keep us where we want to be, and a long way from that nasty expensive Premiership.
