Wimb
Ian Royal Given the expense of the rest of our deals, the fact Church was brought on ahead of ALF on saturday and the number of strikers we already have I think this one should be filed under "B" for bullcrap.

Or, Brian was giving Church one final chance to impress and show him that he's worth keeping.....

Church was brought on to defend from the front, had we been chasing the game it would have been Alf.

With the money that the club has come into, is CMS really the future? I think not! Sure, his work rate is fantastic but his rate of return does not justify a high price tag. Would we have taken £3.5m for Shane Long BEFORE his rich vein of form a year ago? Thought not.

well on one hand i'm pleased we're prepared to spend so much to get 'the right man', but on the other we've lost out on sharp and who else is out there to get these goals hunt and church most certainly can't provide? rhodes will apparently cost in excess of £5m, but if we can throw in howard and perhaps church that could be tempting for a rising league one outfit.

interesting day coming up tomorrow then. i hope it doesn't turn into a big let down, because the strikers we have here do not give me any confidence (roberts and le fondre the only positives out of the bunch we have)

We'd have taken a lot less than £3.5m for Long before he actually had a consistently good season.

Whatever we've got coming down the pipe, I don't believe our eye for a bargain will be thrown out with the bath water. This guy has lot's of promise but we can do better for much less money...........................Roberts, for instance

tomrfcurz Sky Sports now reporting this

Suspect this is a case of SSN reporting a hobnob rumour than there being any reality in it.

Hope I am wrong as CMS and Roberts up front, Church to BHA in part exchange and Hunt and ALF in reserve would be fantastic business IMO. Just a pipedream though.

If it was someone else like GetReading or other newspapers maybe but SSN rarely do that to be honest. I'm sure there is substance in it but regardless i'm sure it won't come off

As i've posted on here several times already, don't believe everything Jonny Fordham tells you - he completely rubbish'd the idea of Roberts when he was given a very good source. Trust me.

Cant say I'm impressed with this, looks like its going to cost alot for a player who isnt better than what we've got. If I was Brighton I'd bite our hand off with any offer over £3m, I didnt think he was worth what Brighton paid so they'd be laughing to show a profit on that.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if this had some legs.

If McDermott is after another striker, there are not many options available at the last minute.
Being as the money has only really been available in the last week or so, it's going to have to be someone proven at least at this level or a real gamble.

Probably made an enquiry to a very surprised   South American.

Ideally Rhodes as he's on fire currently and would be a "good investment" but failing that I'd be happy with Ebanks-Blake and even Darius....ugly but effective and prb quite cheap as well

If I were Rhodes I would stay exactly where I was until the summer. I'm not convinced by Ebanks-Blake and Darius will be hurt by that comment. He takes great pride in himself.

You've got to be a little strange not to think CMS is a better striker than Hunt or Church.

I'd like to see CMS here but how much are Brighton going to want for their new striker who has just signed a four year contract?
