Got forwarded an email by a mate of a club official listing transfer targets AZ wanted (email apparently written by one of AZ's men).
Won't go into detail but it was impressive.
Lukaku (Loan)
Sahin (Loan)
Doumbia (£25m - Note - said possibly a bit out of our price range)
Bertrand (£8m)
Crusat (£5m)

Those were more of the extravagant ones but none were below £3-£4m. Seems we're ready to splash the cash if we get promoted.

Take it with a pinch of salt obviously - but my mate was pretty adamant.

I'd love to sign Bertrand but can't help thinking he'll be a target for Swansea or will want to try and break into the Chelsea first team (if Cole goes this summer).

A Chelsea supporting colleague told me yesterday that Bertrand has stated on 2 separate occasions this season (on Chelsea TV) that if he was to go out on loan this season his first choice would be Reading. The reason being that he enjoyed it so much here, likes BMc and the players + the fans treated him very well.

If we do go up then I think it's fair to say we'd need to see some major investment in the playing squad. I'd say a lot of this team would get by as squad players but the thought of the majority of this side playing week in week out sends shivers down my spine.

It'll be a big test for McDermott to make such wholesale changes.

Also on this 'list' of 'targets' were all the players out of contract in the summer who we could look at. Berbarov was on there

Berbatov is not out of contract - SAF just recognises Berba wants first team football.

Stumbled accross this article today

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1098 ... w-contract

Big  at the Owen link being the Chronicle piece

If we are PL come May, 2 or 3 of the GK and DF's listed would be realistic targets

I'd have

- Bertrand
- Bannan (Don't care if he's small)
- Lakuku would be awesome (Decent Jason Roberts)
- romeu

Essentially Chelsea reserves because they are will be very good and achievable targets!!

---------------Feds------------------

???-------Pearce--Gorkss------Bertrand

Kebe----L,wood/Jem--Romeu----Bannan

---------ALF-----Lakaku-----

I would hate it, hate it if we sign mercenaries like Berbatov. Top Championship players and stars in the making from overseas will do me.

What makes Berbatov a mercenary then?

Romeu  At least that ridiculous list "from AZ" makes a drop of sense if he were actually a nutter like Abramovich, but Romeu is Chelsea's best defensive midfielder and Barcelona will sign him back before we do.

Lukaku would also be beyond us (check his price tag) and Bannan isn't a winger. I wouldn't mind Bannan to play behind the striker if we couldn't get Sigurdsson though.
