From Adrian Durham

Reading had watched Conor Washington, but my understanding is that they were always more interested in Posh midfielder Chris Forrester #pufc

You're basing this on Darragh McAnthony's tweet, I presume?

Tommio called the Washington to QPR before the papers so if he's getting it off the same guy could be credible.

Brian may have like Conor Washington a lot as claimed by The Posh Chairman, but not enough to get involved in a bidding war with drunken sailors QPR and end up paying over the odds is my guess. I imagine Posh also want a large sell on clause in the contract as they did with Newport when they signed him reducing any potential profit should the signing come good.

Bit of a gamble, like Blackman for Derby, on a player who has hit a rich vein of form. Could pay off massively well and I am sure QPR fans would rather their club are spun king £3m plus on promising youngsters than the likes of $haun Wright Phillip$.

Perhaps if our people had moved a bit quicker at the outset - when it comes to signing players, they appear like our players defending a corner; slow to move and too often caught flat-footed - the the drunken sailors wouldn't have had time to stagger into picture.

The better option would have been to have spotted his talent and picked him up from Newport for £500k in 2014 as Posh have done. Fair play to them for that.

Reading normally like to do their transfer business out of the media spotlight to avoid getting involved in auction situations. Evans signed in RFC textbook fashion with no fuss, dealing with MCFC. Contrast that with the possible transfer of Washington and dealings with Peterborough. Their Chairman takes to his Twitter account quicker than Kim Kardashian to tell the world of interest in the player, tell me Royal Blue, what could he possibly have to gain by doing this?
