Would be "funny" if we did get Viera. No doubt many Reading FC fans would jizz themselves over it... just like they probably did with Stam...

Hound reading through the options, think I'm just hoping Stam is able to turn this one around

Although Moyes, actually, isn't a bad shout.

Hardly, unless you're a Man U fan. He's got good management experience.

Only Reading fans could turn their nose up at a bloke who, just 3 years ago, was manager of one of the biggest clubs in the world

Iirc there was little spunking over Stam's appointment at the time... partly due to the ownership uncertainty/McD situation and in part due to Stam's limited managerial experience.

Great players do not always make great managers, he may know the game very well and has played at the highest level (like others before) but he has no idea about the championship and is now being found out ... Same would apply to Vieira I suspect

It's the 5th of October. You give him a lot longer than a month and a half!

maffff I don't want or expect this to happen.

But if it did, Patrick Vieira would be my #1. Linked with Saint Etienne, wants to coach in Europe but Man City are reluctant to let him leave NYCFC and he seems to be happy enough there.

De Boer would be ok in my mind, awful at palace, but we aren't exactly an Allardyce team so a continuation - maybe he could find that balance.

Worst thing we could do would be panic and bring in someone of an entirely different style rather than evolve what we've shown can be successful - but try to find the balance which we don't yet have.

Not Vieira please, always struck me as someone who thinks he's cleverer than he is with tactics/subs.

NYCFC doing well in spite of him rather than because of him (in my opinion)

Not Vieira. Don't you think these guys have only ever been used to top level clubs and players where their systems work? We need a shit lower league manager to get us back to basics - just look at Wilder

I don’t think it’s as simple as that.

You could say if we don’t get a win in the next 4 but I think that doesn’t really get to the issue

Stam has to learn from the past month. If we are still playing static unadventurous football but scrape a win that’s not really good enough

On the other hand if we start playing well and utilising the players we have but for whatever reason don’t pick up points I’d give him longer

But to answer the q best I can - if things haven’t improved dramatically by end of Nov then I think it’s probably over for him

I think to be honest we’ll get a good idea at Leeds. If we get a repeat of the Millwall/Norwich sh1t show then peoples patience will wear very thin

Beating Leeds would certainly be fairly poetic redemption for Stam. Him and the Leeds fans fcuking hate each other.

Hound, you're like the cool, calm and reasonable man that I never was. Can we be friends please?
