Southbank Old Boy
Dirk Gently This one was never going to happen. 'Arry has a definite policy to only go for big players. This was published back in April :
Sunday Times - ‘They were too powerful for us that day, they were all formidable athletes,’ Redknapp said. ‘I looked at Adebeyor, Diarra and Eboue, and thought ‘we’re not playing on equal terms here. I need to get some bigger lads in to make us stronger and more athletic’.

That can't be right, I was told the other day that Adebeyor was weak!!!!!

you were told he wasn't a big battering ram. Difference.

SCIAG Steve Howard used to be a battering Ram.

Calling Adebayor a battering ram is very inaccurate. He's tall but rather weak. Drogba, Yakubu, Carew and Benjani are all probably better with the ball at their feet. Davies, Jones and Heskey are the only one who I feel are just battering rams- though Hesket goes about his job in a different way to the tradional target man.

Dirk Gently This one was never going to happen. 'Arry has a definite policy to only go for big players. This was published back in April :
Sunday Times - Portsmouth may not be the best team in the Premier League, but they may well be the biggest because of a policy decision taken after Arsenal, of all people, had bullied and overpowered them. Harry Redknapp, the Pompey manager, regularly fields nine six-footers in his starting XI, and could make it 10 by reinstating 6ft 5in Kanu in attack

- Redknapp has always favoured attractive, passing football, but two years ago he realised that playing pretty football was no longer enough. His epiphany came when Arsène Wenger’s Arsenal visited Fratton Park and were too strong for Portsmouth’s lightweights

- ‘They were too powerful for us that day, they were all formidable athletes,’ Redknapp said. ‘I looked at Adebeyor, Diarra and Eboue, and thought ‘we’re not playing on equal terms here. I need to get some bigger lads in to make us stronger and more athletic’. We’re a massive team now, with Sol Campbell, Sylvain Distin, Sulley Muntari and Papa Bouba Diop. Big Papa in midfield is 6ft 4in. I made the conscious decision to go for more power, which has given us a bit of steel’

- The improvement was particularly noticeable on their travels, where Portsmouth have won eight times already in the Premier League this season. ‘We’d been a soft touch away from home,’ Redknapp said. ‘I wanted to be sure we could go away and compete this time, and we’ve done that’

Such a shortarse as NS would obviously not fit into his gameplan, and would leave an obvious weakness in the Pompey defence.

LOL @ 'arrys man mountains losing on the last day of the season to a header by one of the shortest blokes in the Premiership. Oh.

By the looks of things the transfer certainly now looks a strong possibility!

Wouldn't be upset with that. According to Fulham fans I know, Rosenior had his best season for them at left back.

Wold seem to make sense now for Ary to go for Shorey, he'll be cheapish for them and will do ok there i reckon. Not aware of many decent left backs, might be just as well having Rosenior and Golbourne having that place.

Just checking our new squad list, we really have a stupidly huge squad, full of dross btw!

So much of it is youngsters that most clubs wouldn't bother giving a squad number to though.

We do have some serious deadwood though, especially when you consider we've just let Stack, Oster, Brown, DLC etc go too

I thought Kelly was meant to be quite promising. I haven't actually seen any of them play, apart from Church for Wales U21s so can't really comment on the rest...

They are on the first team list and aren't good enough for the first team, nor will they ever be unless we go down again. HTH.

Having seen our youth team get hopelessly outclassed by Man City last season, as well as having seen all these lads play, I say the above with a lot of confidence. Davies found his level last season in the BSP much like Osano, Andersen didn't cut it in that league, Church did nothing in LEague 1 for Crewe or Yeovil. Bozanic? I'd forgotten he even existed till i saw the squad list. Not even close to the first team.

Wasting ours and their time keeping them on.
