Am i right in saying that IF they have bid then they can still seal the deal after 5pm? Long as there is proof of a bid?

yes due to the snow

they have to show that the deal was agreed "in principle"

And also that the only reason it wasn't completed was the weather.

I can't actually see there should be ANY deals that fall into this category but inevitably clubs will get all sorts agreed on the same basis that 'emergency' loans now cover absolutely anyone you want to bring in....

What's Kebe got to do with it? I quite like Kebe, I just find him infuriating.

The 27-year-old winger was already under contract until 2011 and his new one will keep him tied to the club for a further year on improved terms.

The Republic of Ireland star revealed: “I had a clear head about three or four days before the QPR game. I knew what was going on so there wasn’t a problem.

“Even if people had come in for me on deadline from clubs I’ve been linked with, especially one club, I wouldn’t have gone there.

“I’m happy where I am and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season and hopefully we can kick on and get points on the board.

“We want to be in the Premier League and my big aim is to get in a lot of crosses and score lots of goals. That’s my target and I’m determined to have a big impact on the rest of the season.

“The speculation wasn’t really playing on my mind, But I think the best is still to come from me and hopefully the fans will see that over the next few months.”

Hunt is expected to put pen to paper any day now and Royals director of football Nick Hammond stated: “There are a few things to tie up but it should be a formality.

“There has been a lot of speculation about Stephen but we have worked hard to find a solution to keep him here.

“The most important thing for us in January was keeping the squad together and we have done that.

“People are aware about the £5 million clause in his contract but we never had an offer that met that figure. And I must say Stephen’s commitment throughout this time has been outstanding.”

What a Mercenary .... probably had the £5 million clause removed from his contract too ..... disgusting

Stephen Hunt Even if people had come in for me on deadline from clubs I’ve been linked with, especially one club, I wouldn’t have gone there.

Bullshit - if Spurs or Everton had come in for him he would have been off quicker than Usain Bolt.

Glad he's staying but he really needs to think before he speaks to the press.

His agent needs to control his leaks! (ooo, er)

But they will both now sit down and think "improved contract = result = means justified"

Sad really, his agent really should go back to selling bathromms/ double glazing/ Amway...

Don't be so stupid.

So you work for a firm, and you get head-hunted for £20K a year more.
Do you stay with your firm, leave for more money, or ask for a rise?

WE might want players to stay, but for most footballers, their career is over
in their early thirties. A good deal now and judicious saving/investment and
a player in S Hunt's position can sort himself out for life.

WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT HE SHOULD DO. FOR HIMSELF AND FAMILY FIRST.

So he should have settled for what he is getting rather than taking the opportunity for a better deal? Oh, and the club agreed to it as well - I wonder why that was? They obviously couldn't afford it.

It's your head in the sand getting mugged.

I have to say i agree with Monk, he's settled here, set for life, guaranteed first team football, fans who love him and we play football that suits his style. It would of been a big risk to move. If he just got on and focused, he would achieve all the things he is capable of. ie. he's never ever going to win the champions league, but maybe he could challange for europe al la our first season. one of about ten teams in the Prem could offer that, and we could be one in 4 months.
