Reading are closing in on Rotherham United loanee winger/striker Nouha Dicko, 21 - who is on loan from Championship rivals Wigan Athletic.
Reading are believed to have submitted a £400,000 offer to the Latics.
WBA have upped their summer interest in Reading striker Adam Le Fondre. There was initially an inquiry in the summer but Reading rebuffed out advances. Even with Clarke leaving I'm told we still fancy the lad, and are prepared to use Shane Long as a makeweight for the deal. Nothing will happen unless Reading are prepared to part with £2m towards Long's inclusion.
English Championship side Reading have made a £2.5m offer for our young midfield starlet Ryan Gauld. A £1.5m offer with Hope Akpan included in the deal was rejected, but £2.5m and Akpan will be very hard to turn down.
Reading's bid is a bold move. Big clubs including Real Madrid are watching the young midfielder dubbed 'mini Messi', but none are expected to make an offer at this stage in his career. Ryan Gauld will be just 18 on Monday.
34 year old Greek international Sotirios Kyrgiakos is training with Reading with a view to a contract until the end of the season.
England keeper Alex McCarthy is on his way to Southampton for £4m plus Billy Sharp and Danny Fox.
Saints initially offered more (wasn't told the fee) but Adkins wants to keep Sharp and also wanted Fox in the summer. Good business for Reading, especially with important funds coming in, and McCarthy gets a chance to cement his place in the England set-up.
Reading have made moves to sign Huddersfield's Albanian u17 striker Florent Bojaj.
Huddersfield only signed him in August on a deal to go to the end of the 2013/14 campaign, with Bojaj for an initial one year, without a professional contract.
With Flo Bojaj originally at Borehamwood, a club Reading has a youth partnership with, the opportunity to develop at a larger club closer to home is likely to appeal. Bojaj previously trialled with Reading and his development at Borehamwood was being closely monitored before Huddersfield snapped him up.
Reading's Category 1 has a flourishing reputation in the game and the club has a history of bringing players through the ranks into their first team with the squad currently including Alex McCarthy, Jem Karacan, Alex Pearce, Hal Robson-Kanu and Jordan Obita all from the youth squad originally, Adkins track record of embedding youth and several bright prospects emerging.
Huddersfield have a Category 2 academy meaning Bojaj could be available for a negligible fee with the majority of costs dependent on success.
Ben Pringle's pretty much on his way to Reading in January, Nick Blackman on loan to the Millers as a sweetener in the next couple of weeks as Daniel Nardiello 'Will never play for Rotherham again' and has been loaned out to Bury.
