Arch
Russo I was told on Friday by a Reading representative that Sir John Madejski has withdrawn Reading from the race to sign Tommy and that they are moving on to other targets.

This weasly little remark without attribution was enough to set off our whole board into fits of apoplexy. Good job, Russo. WUM extraordinaire - I think we've got a place for you on HNA.

Exactly. It's entirely RFC's decision to continue with negotiation - if we don't fancy the deal how is it a "Disgrace"?? We don't have to buy the player.

Russo has spent the whole time spinning to the media about this deal - I'm not surprised Mr Mad has told him to stick up his ar*e. Especially saying "well they've got enough money they should pay top dollar" - imagine if JM came out with " they're f*cked for money so we're offering them f*ck all"

It could though, be a negotiating tactic.

Mr Controversial Well, from where I am sat it doesnt matter why the deal has been called off (or not) the fact that RFC have allowed this whole sorry affair to happen, and in the public eye, is a complete shambles.

RFC have had months to look at transfer targets and here we are a week from the window closing and we have been made to look like idiots - I am shocked and appalled but most of all embarrassed :oops:

I think one of three things will happen now;

1) RFC go back to Watford with an outrageous offer to save face at which point Tommy Smith will turn us down anyway to add salt to the wounds.
2) RFC forget Smith and make some knee jerk purchases and buy 2 or 3 players before the window shuts that are cheap and not up to the job.
3) RFC do nothing.

Whichever option they take, unless RFC has had a sound plan B (which I dont think they do) we are fvcked.

I seriously cannot believe the pantomime that is unfolding before our eyes, with Nicky Hammond appearing as Widow Twankey;

MADEJSKI - YOUR WALLET IS BEHIND YOU!!
Oh no it isnt!
Oh Yes it FVCKING IS!!!

Thanks RFC Board for making such a pigs ear of this - League one here we come. Such a shame that all the hard work over the past few years has been undone - They couldnt have fvcked it up more if they tried.

Rest in Peace Reading Football Club.

I must admit I'm no great expert on transfer dealings, but I do know sanctimonious claptrap when I see it.

Arch
SteveRoyal Whatever the policy is, it's disgraced this football club.

I swear I just read a comment from you saying we should move on from Smith and look at other targets. Isn't that exactly what we're alleged to have done? Where's the disgrace?

we pulled out of a deal because we were buggered about by a tool of a chairman who pushed the price up and kept leaking to the press about the details. No disgrace there

The fact that the whole affair was made public, we keep penny pinching and refuse to respect the wishes of Watford.
We nick their manager and backroom staff, come back for their best player and mess them around for months, then bugger off.
It's pissed them off, and pissed us off. It's just... foolish.

It's a disgrace that we refuse to accept the wishes of Watford? We made an offer, they rejected it, we moved on. It is an expressed part of our transfer policy, as has been posted on the OS several times, not to discuss transfer dealings in public. Only one person has violated that policy on our side, and it's not a board member or our DoF.

ok this was never going to be an easy negotiation after the business with getting BR into RFC and then BR announcing he wanted TS and the chairman has used this to his advantage by broadcasting every bit of the deal and portaying rfc in a bad light. He's made himself look very unprofessional and an utter cock, at that will have issues in the future - when say Watford are buying/selling players.
