Saw this lad playing for Southend at the new Chesterfield ground earlier this week. I was impressed. A class player clearly capable of playing at a higher level.

He is ex Chelsea, 5 goals in 11 starts this year - mainly central midfield but can play on the wing.

Looked useless when I saw him in the fa cup last season. He was good on Fifa 07 though...

As Grant is a former Chelsea youngster I would make Swansea favourites because of the Rodgers connection.

Apparently played his last game for Southend and rumoured to be going to a Championship club. Probably going to Swansea given the Chelsea connecton but would like to see him here.

A goalscoring midfielder - just what we need. He would also be comparatively cheap - around £200k.

Would rather sign Leigertwood permanently than this "unknown".

if he can play in the hole he'd be a maybe for me... if not then it depends how lightweight he is ad whether we can shift one of Howard, Tabb, Gunnarsson or maybe Karacan to make room for him. Way too many central midfielders right now and we're fine for wingers.

Why would we go back to 451 when the Hunt-Long partnership now has 13 goals in 12 games? Surely, if it's doing well, we should persist with it?

I didn't say we should, but it gives us an alternative style to play and notice how I also posted about his potential for the two man midfield we currently play.

There is also such a thing as long term planning.

Last I saw (about a week ago) Grant was injured and unlikely to play again for a good few weeks. Anyway we wouldn't want to afford him.

I've improved your post. Less can be more. Valid point made for sure, but going into more detail than necessary makes more numbers to read which people don't enjoy and can take away from the presentation of your argument. You sometimes set yourself up for the (unfair I'd say) stick you get on here by posting too many numbers which can be tough to trawl through.

14 goals in 13 games now. We failed to score in the game where Church started instead of Hunt.
