Reading FC close in on loan star

by TBM » 17 Nov 2010 11:24

Brian McDermott has hinted there is a chance he will add to Reading’s squad ahead of the loan transfer deadline a week tomorrow.

Any guesses?

I think the headline doesnt really match the story in this case, McD's comments certainly mirror the regular pre-written, transfer window, loan window near closing time, press releases of full of the "Possibility", "if something comes our way" splurge.

I'd take Roberts. He's certainly not much worse than what we have and another body would be useful.

wages permitting of course.

He has just scored 2 in 2 for them? Can't see it being him.

I dont want "not much worse" nor "another body" - it has to improve the squad and preferably someone who would become automatic first choice.

When asked if he has lined up anyone to join, McDermott said: “There’s a possibility. I’m looking at a good player.

Would rather a tall, strong ball winning centre midfielder who can just keep hold of the ball and not keep lumping it up to longy every 10 seconds

Well obviously I want someone to walk straight into the first team as well, but we have three strikers, so anyone who isn't total shit will improve our squad. You may have noticed we haven't been able to field a striker on the bench for a couple of games now. That in itself is a problem.

joeby: Not much point in that midfielder when Mills, Griffin & Harte at least spend half of their time bypassing midfield with balls into Long or the channels.

That's right, cling to those straws! Personally I think there's naff all chance of anything happening until January and even then I reckon we'll be lucky to see anything done as regards new players.
