RUMOUR - Keith Andrews

by ITFC_Keane » 07 Aug 2011 20:26

I've heard that one of our midfield targets, Keith Andrews from Blackburn, is also in talks with Reading re: season-long loan. I think we need a defensive midfielder myself, so would be cautiously pleased to have him (even though Blackburn fans don't rate him).

But I guess it's down to the player himself. Would he fit in with your other midfielders?

Would be an excellent singing IMO. Leigertwood-Karacan will remain our first choice pairing. Tabb is a very reliable and similar player to Karacan and I have no great concerns if something happens to Jem. However our only defensive midfielder covering should something happen to Leigertwood is Gunnarsson; how much longer can we rely upon upon this living legend to defy his age?

Andrews would be accomplished at this level and provide depth and competition in the more defensive midfield role.

Odd one, we already have Karacan, Leigertwood, Tabb & Gunnarsson who are all more defensively minded. Not what I'd be wanting us to be bring in as a priority. Centreback or left back much more important. Or a creative goalscoring midfielder.

Can he play left back?

Otherwise I'm out.

If he can play in defence then might be worth a shout

Ideal FFS, we need a left back who has at least moderate pace!

Harte does have moderate pace, sure he'd outpace you anytime ... problem is most professionals have more than moderate pace.

This better be a joke.

We have 7 players who can play centre mid. Why would we need another one? Get a striker or a centre-back.

Andrews would be an excellent addition for any team in this league. I don't think he'd be behind the current two in the any fair pecking order though. As much as I think he'd strengthen our starting eleven I'd agree with those who don't think it's a position we need to focus on.

I didn't think he'd be available this season either. I'm sure he played quite a bit last season once he was fit.

leaked by the mirror:

Andrews, meanwhile, is on £21,000 plus £2,000 for every appearance - but his incredible contract guarantees him a pay rise after every five matches, as well as handing him an annual extra payment of £26,667. Should Rovers sell the Irish international, his former club MK Dons will be entitled to a 10 per cent cut of any fee over £1m.

i think you can rule out his signing for reading.

I think he would be a decent player at this level, however not what we need at the moment. He will probably do alright at Ipswich.

and why did we need another midfielder? we have leigerwood, karacan, tabb and gunnarsson who can play def.midfield. what we need is an experienced striker, one more cb and possibly a left back, though i feel he will stick with harte because of his offensive ability.
