Decent Prem experience still fairly young, has not signed a new contract with Newcastle that was tabled in May.

Newcastle have widely been reported to be after the French RB Debuchy so could be a possibility he's looking elsewhere and follow suit with Guthrie in not wanting to be a bench warmer.

I suspect his could be true due to the Guthrie link, although I'd be very surprised. I thought he played frequently for them last year? Would be a great signing IMO.

Not 100% but pretty sure he's been 1st choice or thereabouts for the last 2 seasons up there so agreed would be a very good signing if it comes to fruition.

He started most of last season but maybe Pardew feels like area can be strength with a better option. Think Perch played in RB a few times towards the end of the season

He's been the starting RB for the past 3 seasons and overall has done very well but still divides opinion amongst the Newcastle fans. I like him, he's no 'billy big bollocks' - he's earning pittance (10k p/w) compared to the other first teamers and just wants a parity in wages, which is kind of fair enough given he's the starting RB. Unfortunately for him NUFC don't think he's good enough to get them, hence why he hasn't signed any contract. He'd also be out of the team if Debuchy signs (which looks likely), whilst Perchino was suprisingly very capable when he filled in at full back last season.

I reckon he'd be a fantastic signing for Reading, he cleared about 5 or 6 shots off the line last season and would definitely be a massive improvement on Cummings (don't rate him I've afraid). The only thing is he's a bit crap going forward and can be prone to getting caught out of position, which sometimes can be costly - the 2-1 loss away to Arsenal was because he was pissing about at the corner flag and lost possession cheaply. He also got some stick for referring to ManUre as 'united' whenever NUFC play them and failing to understand why that winds some people up.

If the club end up with Pog, Guthrie and Simpson all on frees though then it's probably one of the single best transfer windows Reading have ever had!

EP today says that Guthrie has actually recommended Danny Simpson to Brian so whether the above stories are just speculation based on that is unknown

I think we have done very well so far could be a very cost effective bit of business for us this year with the amount of freebies we've got. Not that I would want us to spash stupid money on one player like Rhodes but we may be very well placed to do that if we wanted to. Even if it doesn't work out until January, im sure AZ will be bringing out the january funds for bmd if its the difference between PL and Championship football next year.

IMO Simpson would be a very good addition for us and it makes sense to get him instead of Luke Young. The wages Simpson wants is probably a figure that is very similar to what Young would be demanding so why not get a right back that has plenty of seasons left in him rather than getting an aging player who is probably not going to be able to feature in every game. Don't get me wrong wouldn't mind Luke Young but it seems to make more sense bringing in Simpson if there was a choice of the two.
