AZ's Shortlist

by akranes » 03 Nov 2012 21:21

So it is circulating around the press now, that Anton has a shortlist of 10 players, who we are looking at signing.

One of these is Andrei Arshavin, http://www.newsru.com/sport/02nov2012/reding.html. Who could link-up with the Pog.

Another of these, another Russian, could and is probably Denis Cheryshev. Straight from AZ himself http://www.itv.com/sport/football/article/2012-09-28/reading-owner-my-vision-is-a-top-six-finish/.

Who could those other 8 be? Ex-England internationals/Russians/championship players probably?

If it is his money that is bank rolling these transfer then he has every right to have a say who is brought in...both of the above would improve the team greatly!

He talks a big F**** game doesn't he. I will reserve judgement until January. Maybe collectively we thought the squad had enough ability but obviously it doesn't.

We've only had one transfer window.

He could bring in 11 Russians, I couldn't give shit! As long as they're mustard

Whats that all about "This year the club is valued at a minimum of £70million," he said. "From next year, with the increase in television rights payments, it'll be £100million."

What in the championship

If I was the owner, and arshavin was available and cheap, I wouldn't give a shit what the management thought, I'd have him in ASAP if it was possible.

Given Brian's recent dealings, I'd be pretty happy with the chairman brining in a few of his own players.

It's not like Brian would have to play them...they'd just be available for selection.

I really don't think it'd be a problem either, I'm sure BM would secretly want them...
I was going to say he would 'phase' them into the squad, but that wasn't the case this year.

I'm hoping for Misimovic to be on there.

Come on, he can't be any worse at it than McDermott.

Have it on good authority that the rest of the list is made up of Tweedle Dum, Tweedle Dee, Hugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub.

Although Leeds have insisted that Pugh isn't available.

Arshavin would not fit with Brian's style of play.

Agreed. No one with any ability will fit into Brian's style of play. He'll have to go.

At the moment I think I'd let him pick the team and make the substitutionsnlet alone choose new players.

Actually I disagree. As pointed out by the commentators on Sky in today's match, McDermott clearly likes to have a large pool of wingers to dip into and i'd rather have Arshavin ahead of any of our country wing options, especially McAnuff or HRK.
