Southampton player fails medical

by Divvy » 17 Jun 2013 12:17

On Friday according to @thefootballfamily

EP bloke has asked for his contacts details to try and get more for a story. I hope it's not Sharp, I want him here next season!

Frazer Richardson, which is weird as he's a right back.

Where you hear that. If true, I'm glad. What a pointless signing that would have been.

It wouldn't be surprising to sign a Southampton player.

All managers go back to previous clubs for players.

Not buying this at all. Saw online someone had failed a medical, no mention of what team they belonged to.

With Adkins history as a physio and previous job at Southampton I highly doubt a Saints player has failed a medical and Adkins has gone "oh didn't know that, better not sign him"

Plus there is no such thing as 'failing' a medical. Things flag up and its up to the club to determine whether they want to sign the player, e.g. Bradley Wright-Phillips. There isn't a checklist and you need a 17/20 or you don't sign

Thinking about players that Adkins might go in for (I'm not speculating on medicals or anything) wonder if we could see him going for Fonte or Hooiveld.

Yoshida's pretty much established himself first choice, with Forren and now Lovren in I'd imagine one or both will be their equivalent of Gorkss.

If you pull out of signing someone because an issue came to light during their medical, then they "failed their medical".

Since even Carrico passed a Reading medical I'm assuming this is what happened.

Well it's your mate who runs The Football Family website and twitter feed, and he did say it was a Southampton player later. Have a word with him.

My point is that its not as simple as a 'pass' or 'fail'. Of course there is factors that mean a player isn't going to be signed but i'm saying if it is something that major i'm surprised Adkins would throw a player out that he's worked with for however many years, especially with his physio experience.

"failing" in this instance would suggest he has an injury that won't be fixed in time for pre-season or even the start of the season.

We really need to hit the ground running and need first team players to come in to do this.
