He hasn't got the worst scoring record in the MLS and is at a good age to keep improving.

He could be a decent signing, but not one that can slot straight into the team and start scoring right away.

So far in the current MLS season, Zardes has five goals in 19 league games, with Galaxy sitting top of the Western Conference table. He made his debut for the USA national team back in January, and has gone on to earn 13 caps, scoring twice.

Yeah but he's great on FIFA so this must be a great signing.

That illustrates my point quite nicely, thanks.

It's not the worst record, and he has the time to improve as he gets older.

He's unlikely to come in and start smashing them in all over the place, but could be a decent signing.

I agree - we have to be realistic.

We are not going to to be able to attract/afford a player who has scored 12 or 13 in 19 appearances for example.

A striker who has scored 5 in 19 is our level....accept the fact that we cannot afford a proven 15-20 season striker or attract them when there is so much competition and bigger clubs who can pay much higher wages.

COULD be a good signing indeed!

Do behave. A 23 year old USA international who has a decent record in what is quickly becoming a very good league.

This would be a great signing for little old us.

I know, it's just that it seems to be the attitude of a lot of people on twitter.

money will be an issue. MLS owns him and won't sell one of their most popular young strikers for cheap. But it would be terrific to have him at RFC.

His goal scoring record doesn't bother me that much, he's quick that's something we need up front. Plus he'd fit in with Blackman and Williams and the rest of the shit dyed hair gang.

But this is bollocks and it's never going to happen so doesn't really matter.

I'd rather give that Novakovich (sp?) a game. He's a big boy too and seems to be impressing.

Tall, has pace and shockingly it seems the yanks want us to sign him out of the three that are in for him......
......

Would still like us to sign a proven striker as well though.

In what way is Reading better to play for than Brighton? Brighton in easily in the top 3 nicest places to live in the country, have probably the nicest stadium in the division and champions league level facilities, and they're currently top of the league in the same league as Reading.

As a club we're well thought of by the MLS. We've got a couple of their players already and have had a couple more on the books and from comments by them we've worked well with them. We've also done soccer camps etc over there and when you are dealing with players owned by the national set up that sort of relationship building really pays off.
No idea if this guy is any good mind you, but Novacavic is (IMHO) not ready yet and certainly isn't pacy.

Landon Donovan retired at the end of last season after chipping in with 15 assists.
Galaxy also traded away another important creative midfielder (11 assists) to make room for Gerrard who only arrived midseason.

Perhaps that is why he's gone from 17 in 31 (2014) to 5 in 21 (2015).

This season shows he's not much good at creating his own chances.
But we're after a speedy finisher, and last season shows he is that.

Yes please. His pace alone is almost enough to sign him up, but he is a decent finisher with a lot of potential upside down the road. This would be a wonderful signing.

I've highlighted the problem there. No one else appears likely to make them for him here.
