Rumour - Baldock to Luton

Seems to be some rumours around, started on a Luton fans message board that they are looking at taking Baldock on loan for the season.

Probably a good deal for all if that comes off, as he's only likely to be a bit part player this year and will get some, if not all of his wages off the books for the season. Believe he is out of contract next summer as well, isn't he?

Would be a good move for all parties I think, I don't think Luton would be able to cover all of his wages but anything over 50% would be a bonus.

Yeah, I just looked it up and his contract does end at the end of the season.

I think they'd have to be willing to pay all of his wages then I guess. Would imagine that we would get a loan fee, in lieu of a nominal transfer fee.

This. A nominal loan fee of say 100k and taking 50% of his wages off is probably the best deal for all, as Baldock can impress there and probably have more options next summer whilst we have some money in for him and have a lot on his wages.

I don’t see him demanding a great amount to be honest. He’s 31 and unlike when he signed him, his reputation has fallen off the cliff. The question is what is Luton’s wage structure like?

The ideal world is Luton come in and go can we have you for 2 years take your 20k a year and offer you 12.5k per year over too but a secure place to play for the next 2 years. does depend slightly on his mind set is it about money or playing as long as you can at the highest level you can?
Most likely situation though is I will split me 20 K a week for a year with reading and Luton play for them for a season. Be 32 when that ends, sign for a league 2 club for 1 season on 5 k a week and disappear into the abyss.
