If he is, I don't think it will surprise anyone. He's clearly got huge potential. And he's one of the most obvious players to sell for good money that will have limited impact on the current first XI.

Just make sure there’s a massive sell on clause.

Can’t wait for the day when Reading can once again sell on their terms.

Yeah, this - if we can agree a hefty sell-on % and/or if he can be loaned back for the rest of the season, I don't have too much of an issue.

He is clearly someone who is going to go on to better things and with Dorsett back and Yiadom and Abrefa nearly back, it's one of the positions we actually have some cover for.

He's thrown his toys out of the pram because Brogue is nuking Karbota and DD's posts from orbit.

I guess he thinks he's next on the list of dimwits to remove once they go. I wouldn’t have said so though.

May as well post this in here: https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/fabri ... re-garcia/
Fabrizio Romano drops new transfer update on Reading FC star Andre Garcia
16-year-old Reading FC talent Andre Garcia is being tracked by clubs from two of Europe's biggest leagues, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The power dynamic in these situations, when a lower league club has a hot, young prospect in their ranks and higher ranking teams want them, is massively in favour of those with a bigger bank account.

With the current financial situation at Reading, and the uncertainty surrounding their ownership, it could make them potentially vulnerable to attacks from more powerful forces, who are already said to be eyeing up one of their up-and-comers.

Reading youth attracting top flight attention
Several clubs in the Premier League and the Bundesliga reportedly have Reading's Garcia on their ones-to-watch list, according to Romano.

The 16-year-old has already made his breakthrough into the club's first-team. He provided an assist in the Royals' recent FA Cup extra-time victory over Harborough Town, and he's made a dozen appearances in League One so far in this campaign too, half of which the left-back has started.

Reading are currently in 7th place in the division, just outside the play-off places but level on points with Barnsley, who currently occupy the final of the top six spots in the third tier.

Partly thanks to Garcia, Ruben Selles is working with the second-youngest squad in the league, at an average of 23.8-years-old per player, according to Transfermarkt.

Top level clubs in Europe's best league aren't the only ones who are set to fight over Garcia. Romano also stated that both the English and Spanish national teams will battle for him to make sure he ends up playing for their country down the line.

Reading must get sell-on part of any Andre Garcia deal right
Given the calibre of clubs that are said to be interested in the defender, it would be a surprise if Garcia stays at the Select Car Leasing Stadium for a while longer.

Because of his age, the money they are likely to get for him, if he does leave before the end of his contract, won't be that representative of the talent he is and the potential he has, as clubs aren't allowed to pay transfer fees for players of such an age.

Therefore, the most beneficial part of Garcia leaving Reading will be in any sell-on clauses they have. This will give them the potential to make a decent amount of money from any future moves made by the teenager, especially if he continues on his current trajectory.

Without a decent sell-on percentage, Reading could be essentially robbed of a very promising young player.

That article says nothing that pretty much anyone here with no special connections could have said.

Big clubs tracking talented 16 year old already playing professional first team football shocker.

Big clubs have more power than small clubs shocker.

Reading have financial issues shocker.

I’ve banned* dd and karbota ( *I’m not allowing them to post anymore - i don’t have the authority to ban). and SCR has decided to leave the board because he thinks i’m over censoring the board. And restricting freedom of speech.

Dear Garcia,

Please call Nelson Abbey and see how he's getting on. Only 5 professional games since he left.

Give Caylan a buzz, not a single professional game since he left.

I know they're both young still, but... You're getting games here. AND can still move on when you're 20, after 4 years of solid football. How crazy is that?

Dear Andre, please take one for the team to fund the rest of our season (and maybe beyond) you've got a bright future, and you're still young enough not to need too much first team game time yet, and can get a fair amount on loan.

There's not a player in the squad we can get decent money for who, imo, is less key to the first team. Even if we're missing out on a big player and fee in the future.

I agree with the sentiment, but I still don't want to lose such a talent.

Is the line about not being able to get transfer fees for 16 year old’s accurate ? I can’t find any regulations to this effect, if a player has a pro contract then why, subject to safeguarding, should they be allowed to move without a fee but not with a fee ?
What I can see in FIFA regs is a clause that says u18’s can’t be transferred internationally unless they meet certain criteria , which Garcia doesn’t appear to.

It may be we can agree to sell him in advance and the transfer will happen at the start of the first window after he turns eighteen, but cannot answer that.
