Doyler What I don't get is, if this lad is worth £10m then why is he out on loan?

Because he plays for a club in Qatar and obviously didn't want to turn down the chance to play in the Premiership. He has admitted he made a mistake moving to Qatar in the first place.

SymonsO I have heard 10-12 million banded about, maybe just maybe we would actually spend some £ if we stay up.
It is a strange amount of money for a club from Qatar to ask. If They go down and we dont sign him, one of the other clubs in the bottom third will!

Tinrib I think I read somewhere that he actually cost the Qatar club something like £10m, and the offer was so £££ good that it was a no brainer for him, although he didn't really want to go there.
Fair play to Brum for picking him up tho', its that type of player who could be the difference between staying up or going down.
And well out of our league, by a country mile.

I don't see why he was out of league before Birmingham signed him. Young player, unhappy and undervalued at his current club. Isn't this perhaps how we can circumvent our financial short-handedness?
What's he going to cost Birmingham? 5-6 months of wages. What's he given them? 4 goals in 11 games and some pace. Fair enough, at 20 he'll have his bad games but still, he's got something.
It's the same as Cahill. Last January, he was unhappy at Villa and would not ever have cost £5 million. Get the lad in on loan and see if he is good enough and get him to want to stay.

brendywendy wasnt he valued at 12 million to brum, which is why they only loaned him
therefore was and still is out of our league

Dirk Gently Why would he possibly come to us when just about every other club in the PL would want him?

ElmParker Good question. He was apparently quite well known in Argentina as a top prospect.
I wonder if it represents a general Elano-like failure of club managers, rather than a piece of top ferreting by Birmingham's scouts.
His performance alone against us suggested he had awesome potential and I can't believe other scouts didn't know about him.

ElmParker Fair comment. I've never quite understood why ability to settle seems completely unrelated to actual ability. Why a year for Drogba, three months for Henry and no time for Zarate?
