St Patrick’s Athletic midfielder Keith Fahey has not ruled out a move to England before the transfer window in Great Britain closes.

The talented Richmond Park favourite was watched by League One title-chasers Leicester City in Pat’s 1-0 win over Sligo Rovers on Sunday, while all three teams relegated from The Premier League to The Championship last season - Derby County, Birmingham City and Reading – have also been linked with a move for the player.

Fahey, one of the stars of the eircom League Premier Division again this season, insists he is happy with the Dublin side, but having started his career as an Arsenal trainee and having gone on to play for Aston Villa in The InterToto Cup, another crack at the game in England would also appeal to the 25-year-old.

"I can't really say much," Fahey was quoted as saying of the speculation in The Irish Sun. "I'm here until something else happens. If not, I'm happy here.

"I've two-and-a-half years left; I signed a three-year deal last December. If something came up that suited everyone then it would suit me to go, but until then I have nothing to say on it."

Pat’s manager John McDonnell, however, says no approach has been made for the cultured midfielder and intends for nobody to leave his side before the end of the season.

“We need to keep him until the end of the season,” said McDonnell. “Nobody has come in, nobody has spoken to us. It's still speculation. But if the right move comes for Keith - and if it's right for us - then well and good.

“But if he sees the season out here and wins something, it’ll be good for him.”
