RUMOUR - Billionaire in for RFC

by Focher » 01 Dec 2008 16:37

An undisclosed billionaire has now had 3 seperate accountants to review the books at RFC with a view to buying it in the very near future. Things might even happen before the Jan transfer window.

The source? just the standard 'friend who knows one of the RFC directors' scenario.

Coming from Focher, this is more believable than most.

Could be exciting times ahead if true. I just hope it doesn't prove unsettling as has been the case at many other clubs.

We would definitely be a strong candidate for any billionaire looking to buy a football club. I can't believe this is true though.

It would feel 'to good to be true', but you never know. QPR wouldn't have expected what they got either.

We are an attractive package for many. Fingers crossed.

why thank you very much

it is not just a made up rumour, the person involved at RFC doesn't have 100% confirmation but says its doin the rounds at the club, bit like talk of redundancies in a company during the credit crunch 8)

Au contraire. it would be hideous. I don't want my club to become the plaything of a foreign billionnaire. The current, obscene, arms race developing in the Premiership is bad enough. Man City might win the title next year. So what if they do? They as well have posted a cheque to Lancaster gate and bought the trophy. There's no pleasure in it.

Better to win by spending money, than not win at all.

Better to lose on a tight budget than having spent fortunes.

Better to operate within a sensible budget best geared to make a small profit than gamble that spending big might bring success.

This could go on and on...

One of the RFC directors? There are only two directors - and one of them is JM!
