Speculation -Adam Lallana

WHy not?

Lallana price must be right
Saints boss insists wantaway forward won't leave on the cheap

Southampton manager Mark Wotte is determined not to let forward Adam Lallana leave on the cheap.

Wolves have already had a £500,000 bid for the 21-year-old rejected with the Saints looking for a considerably higher offer.

The youngster was linked with a move to Tottenham in the early stages of last season but in the end mustered just two goals in all competitions as the South Coast club were relegated from the Championship.

Lallana has refused to play in the club's two pre-season games to date after telling Wotte he wants to leave.

"There is some interest for him and he would like to join a club in the Championship or Premier League," Wotte told the Daily Star.

Quality player
"But as I have said before, we are not going to sell Adam Lallana for a cheap price. He is a quality player.

"So if there is a club interested they have to do serious business and not try to take advantage of the situation."

However, the League One club are now in a position to dictate terms. Having successfully been taken over on Wednesday they do not have to sell in an effort to improve their perilous financial situation.

Not sure about him refusing to play in the pre-season games, that would have to go down as a black mark against him.

However, he looked good last season and I think he'd fit into the style Rodgers might be looking for as he's quite a versatile attacking player from what I've seen.

We can't just buy youngsters though, the squad and the starting XI need to have a blend of youth and experience.

Not so keen on his refusal to play preseason games. The last thing we want is another Leroy Lita.

2 whole goals last season, and you'll pay 750k for it... Ok.

Lallana is awesome - Saints best prospect in my opinion. He is not a forward though - attacking midfielder who floats around from the wing really....

Agreed. Got a glimpse of him when he was on loan at Bournemouth a few years ago and he looked decent. He's definitely more of a midfielder than an out-and-out forward.

But if Matejovsky is being more utilised this year, do we really need another attacking central midfielder?

Very different players. Lallana is more energetic, comfortable running at people and dropping the shoulder to get a yard or two. Cover different areas of the pitch. If we played a different style he could be more of a replacement for Hunt. He wouldn't play centre-mid.

I think you could consider there to be special circumstances in him refusing to play and wanting out given didn't Saints fail to pay their players in at least one month?

That'd make me want out straight away. Even if I got me cash in the end.
