At least he's trying..

If its here already, apologies, but I didnt see it:

From the BBC Football gossip page:

1033 GMT Reading boss Brendan Rodgers has failed in his bid to bring in Fabio Borini from Chelsea. Rodgers, formerly Chelsea's reserve-team manager, had hoped to sign the 18-year-old striker ahead of Thursday's deadline for emergency loan signings.

The EP says we haven't asked Chelsea for any of their players......

Rodgers hasn’t been in contact with Chelsea about any of their young stars, but could go back to his old club for new additions when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Worst part of that report wass the statment - ""However, he will have to sell to raise cash if he wants to bring in any permanent signings in January as funds are severely stretched at the club this season"" - think any sales of players now is definitely going to be eating into muscle...hardly flush of players with real value, and of those that have any value, some are on loan anyway (Bertrand and ODea)

So where did the money set aside for the Tommy Smith deal go?

I'm worried the answer is Shaun Cummings....

I wouldn't be suprised to see MArek leave in Jan.

He's the highest earner now by some way.

Is he? People often forget that he joined us from a mid table Czech side where he probably would have been on £5k a week max. I reckon when he joined us he would have been on considerably less than a player like Rosenior and thus may have a more manageable wage now. At least I hope so.

I'm sure his agent got him a decent deal.

Who else could we sell to raise funds?

There could be a silver lining to all this - fi cash is that desperate (oh how the once mighty have fallen!) they could always seel the naming rights to the stadium --- :D ...could Egoman bear the thought of that though ??- he would feel it would be like selling his soul! ...but as the Egoman has repeatedly said season after season - " you cut your coat according to the cloth!"

Apparently Mooney is on £12k a week... Charlton are covering £3k.

Who the hell negotiated for Mooney to be on £12k a week???? Whoever it is, assuming it's true, needs shooting. Mooney was never even a regular first team player.

Doubt it. At least not on his lonesome anyway. Isn't Hammond the man who put(s) the wage structure in place? Mooney will have been signed as a first-team squad member and thus fitted into was was at the time an over-inflated salary-band.

Exactly, a first team squad member wanted by Coppell.
