Complete Speculation - David Healy

by West Stand Flash » 21 Jan 2010 19:50

Has come out today and said he is willing to drop to the Championship on loan to gain first team football.
Natural goalscorer, scored for fun in the lower leagues.
Unfortunately I'm sure we are too shit for him and wages would be a problem. But we can dream.

He really has never scored for fun at club level though.

I thought he was an obvious target last year and still think he'd be a good adition.

His record isn't the greatest but if you get him into a side creating chances and get him on a run of half decent form he'll score goals. As with a lot of forwards he's a little streaky, but I think he'd be a good bet to chip in with more goals than Long and Church put together.

If we could find someone to take Long off our hands and then have Thorvaldsson, Rasiak, Church and Healy (loan or a perm deal) as our options up front I'd feel a bit more confident than I do now.

We already have 4 strikers - why do we need more?

SSN says that Doncaster are looking at signing Healy on loan.

I know he's pretty similar physically to the other 3, but 3 strikers for 2 positions isn't enough (assuming we now play 4-4-2). Prehaps we should take a look?

43 in 136 for PNE
29 in 111 for Leeds United

Hardly disappointing. Wipes the floor with all the strikers we have tbh.

Playing alongside 1 of the best forwards to ever play for the club.

So if Hunt's goals in those games were due to Doyle's presence
doesn't that suggest that Doyle's were due to Hunt's presence?

No. Doyle scored when Hunt wasn't present.

I think Noel Hunt's goals to games was massively helped by playing alongside a quite brilliant team player in Doyle. N Hunt isn't the greatest footballer, but he is brave, worked hard and got rewarded that year.

I doubt he'd have as much impact now as he did then.

David Healy is massively overrated - I wouldn't swap him for any of our strikers (that would include Rasiak if he were still here). He had a brilliant run of goals for Northern Ireland a while back and everyone thinks he's Gerd fcukin' Muller!

I think that's more down to his injury than anything else,
