Royals to sign Daniel Bogdanovic

I have heard whispers that we are in advanced talks to sign this lad from Barnsley.

He has scored 14 league goals for them this year in a relatively poor side and is out of contract in the summer.

Barnsley can't afford to hold onto him and we are looking to wrap up a 2 year deal before the end of the season.

Interesting - not a bad player, 30 years old - knows where the goal is - he is out of contract this summer and Barnsley seem resigned to losing him so a low cost signing with a decent recent track record.

yes but can he finish though? Doesn't matter if he's slow if he's got either Church or Long alongside him. Kitson wasn't the fastest. Unless you're saying he's a poor man's Rasiak

Why not? Has a decent goal scoring record at this level and was a Golden Boot winner while playing at Malta. Scored loads of goals there too. He may be slow and lazy but maybe McDermott can do something about that?

And at 30 is not the sort of player I'd be looking at - but then if this proves true and his signing contributes to us being real challengers next season why not, after all if there's one manager who must know the ins and outs of every player in the divivision its going to be Heston. And let's face it Heston does make some incredible things out of ingredients you'd never dream to put together normally.

A bit off topic. But Berbatov is quality and to make a comparison like that is ridiculous. Berba doesn't run around like a headless chicken just to please old school fans who prefer that type of player. He's got a fair few assists and actually does work hard. I've seen a few stats of him last season showing his miles covered and it was actaully more than Rooney's and fletcher's in some instances. I would much rather have a player who can provide assits and goals to one who runs around with little end product.

I thought he's sounded tasty every time we've played them and looked good in highlights I've seen.

Got the impression he wasn't so much an out and out striker as more a forward / attacking midfielder. Never actually seen him play live though.

Initial gut feeling. Not better than we have. But that's all it is, gut feeling.

what a load of bollox, Rasiak is not pleasing on the eye, but one thing for sure is he gives us a different dimension, and a goal to game ratio that matches any player in the first team.

He'd be a much cheaper version of Rasiak. Which when he will prob be 4th choice is not a bad thing.

Read a bit about on Barnsley forums.

They seem to say that he doesn't have great all round play, but takes his chances. I think we have to be realistic about how much money we have this summer. We'll probably have to sell just to buy some defenders. If we can get rid of Rasiak and get this guy in we won't have done too badly.

Exactly. Need only see today's Rich List - despite most people regaining financial status after financial bomb, Sir John has lost 40% of his fortune this year. Plus he's got 17 companies to service. I expect continued financial austerity, which is fine as long as we keep what we've got.
