Half as good as Man Utd, 2/3rds as good as Chelsea, 1/4 better than Liverpool and 3 times as good as Arsenal.

Good times, good times ;)

after another 6 games we will be more than a quarter of the way through the season, and I for one think we will do well to get a win and a draw from the next 6 games

I'm confident there's a few 'surprise' points hidden in the next 6 games.

Even if there aren't - 10pts from 10 games means we're still on target for the 40pts - and at least we won't be relegated by Xmas.

Could easily have 0 points, and considering the teams we've played so far that's very worrying. We've not played a single top 10 standard side yet.

Wigan finished 10th last season. Aston Villa will finish top ten this season

league table

by torbayroyal » 18 Sep 2006 09:48

I say lets enjoy every moment, live for the day.

Does anyone know what our lowest ever league position was. Have we ever been bottom of old div 4?

I was walking in Paignton yesterday wearing "the shirt" people stopped to say well done. People shoted urz from cars. We have arrived.

Using old money....

16th in Div 4 is the lowest we've ever finished and 6th in Div 1 is the highest we've ever been.

I would imagine we've been lower than 16th in Division 4 at some point though... perhaps someone has the necessary evidence somewhere (although it may need to be cuttings from the EP in the early 70s as the league table wasn't always put into some match programmes).

We were only in the 4th Division a total of 8 seasons, so it is not too difficult to check. We finished in 16th position in 1971/72 which is the lowest final position. In that season the lowest we were was in 17th on 27th November. I can find one other example where we were lower and that was on 27th September 1977 after playing 8 games we were in 22nd place. We went on to finish in 8th place that season

Personally, I'll be disappointed if we don't make a champions league spot.
