These are the fixtures on Staurday

Bolton v Middlesbrough
Charlton v Portsmouth
Everton v Wigan
Sheff Utd v Reading
Watford v Aston Villa

I would imagine the Everton game might be top billing followed by Portsmouth as they are both playing well at the moment With so few Premiership games on this Saturday, we are bound to get decent coverage, but as long as we get 3 points, I'm not bothered about how long we get on the box.

They usually go with the most exciting game from the day. If one game finished 5-4 then that would probably be the main game regardless of who it is.

The BBC Premiership new boys Sheffield United and Reading renew the rivalry that saw them battle for the 2005/06 Championship title (which Reading eventually won).

battle?

eventually won?

How about:

Sheffield United and Reading meet for the first time in the Premiership although they did play a couple of decent games in last season's Championship, the Blades meekly conceeding the title to the Royals before Christmas.

They do go for the most exciting game of the day (see our first match of the season). However you could tell that they hadnt planned to focus that much on our match as the post highlighs analysis was much less detailed. We didnt have any of the technical analysis that other later games got on that particular match of the day - ie focus on one particular player

If we are going to get pedantic (and why not, I say) I think that we actually won the Championship a little later than Christmas (but not much), when we passed the total that Sheff Utd finished up with. Promotion, I recall, was effectively gained in early Feb when we passed the total that Watford finished up with. :D

So we gained the Championship before promotion?

For the pedants:

Southampton - 10th February we moved to 82 points, Watford finished with 81.

The Championship was secured on 18th March, a point against Wolves putting us on 91 points, Sheff Utd eventually gaining 90 points.

If you're out Saturday why not come back late and wach the re-run 1st thing Sunday morning (around 7.30) before going to bed!

The main game'll be Charlton v Portsmouth I reckon, think the Beeb will see our game as the least attractive.

3rd match on MOTD, Shearer and Lawrenson praising our passing and pace, and pulling apart Sheffield United's defence.

I have always though of Shearer being a bit of an arse quite frankly, but he was very generous this evening.
