Kevin Doyle, what price do you value him at?

by MrJoeSoap » 26 Sep 2006 15:16

Imagine the (nightmarish) scenario...

Rooney does his cruciates and Solskjaer gets crocked again. Transfer window in January opens and Fergie is dead set on Kevin Doyle.

What price would you see as suitable for him to leave?

The reason I ask is because I'm an Irish soccer fan, who supports a club in our domestic league. I've been watching Doyle closely since he left and have to say he has done our country and our league proud. However, some people in our native land will do whatever it takes to run our league down and devalue it. So, I'm looking for the opinions from the horses mouths, so to speak. How much has Kevin Doyle's value risen since he left Cork? And perhaps, what do you think he was worth when you signed him (i.e. - was £78,000 a decent price? :D )

Yours,
Joe Soap.

I'd be upset to see him leave for less than £7mil + various clauses relating to performance.

He's proven himself to be every bit as good as Andrew J*hns*n and a couple of years younger than him.

I'd say he's worth about £85,000 now - A nice tidy £7,000 profit if we sold him......

Since we don't want to sell him at that stage of the season, we can ask for any absurd amount to put them off. Say £10 million or more.

If we sold him for £10 Million then that would be 12800% profit + Shane Long. If my maths is right  I hope.

Hang on a minute. I'm wondering if there are any sell-on clauses in the contract? :?

Wakey wakey.

Not proven at this level. Bought for just £78k. Anything over £2m would be seriously considered.

Due to the Length of time he has left on his contract and his current goals to game ratio in the prem which is better than Rooneys at the moment I would say about 10 to 15 million.

We are not a selling club, NSML. I doubt we would just give him away at that price.

I have to agree with the hands orf priceless tag eg £10 million or £35 if its Chelsea(+Ballack if he agrees a sane wage oh yes and Doyles not allowed to play against us for at least 5 years). That sort of deal.

Not if he's scored 10 by Jan, which at his current rate is very possible.

Add to the fact he us under contract to 2009 and we don't need to sell, I think double that and a bit more would be a more likely figure required to get the club interested.

Yes I think we paid a fair price for him  but we wouldn't let him go for less than 5-6 million. Although if he carries on, by December, he will be a proven Premiership goalscorer. What price then ?

Doyle seems to be a clever enough bloke, and patient too and I´d be inordinately surprised if he went anywhere in a big hurry (even if an offer is made). Think this ....

bracknell loyal royal! £4m

... is realistic though.

Cork thinking about making a bid to get him back ?
