It's not what we think he's worth, it's what we think would make it too expensive for the big boys to consider making a bid.

Andy Johnson scored 20 goals in his first season in the Prem and went for £8m. So I guess we could reasonably expect the same should Doyler match that feat which is an outside possibility. However I suppose Johnson has more pace than Doyle which is what the teams that were after him wanted.

He has a Prem goal scoring ratio of a goal every 2 games; he is a full Eire International is 23 years old and is contracted till 2009.

A minimum £10M up front with add ons that would double that sum, and with a sell on clause when in a few Years he moves to Real Madrid....

But it isn't going to happen cos he is too similar to Saha.

HTH.

Its the figure which has always been mentioned by Cork city fans when the discussion has come up. Cork have received money as well for Reading getting promoted, Doyle getting a friendly international cap and a competitive international cap. I think those clauses were €15,000 or €10,000 each.

Word is that the same clauses are attached in Shane Long's deal.

The premier league fantasy football has his value soaring - £6.6 million at last check. In top 5 strikers.

It's more a case of how much would we need to pay to replace him. Seeing as recent moves for people like Andy Johnson have been over £7 million, I would like to think we could pick up at least £5 million and get Zamora or someone like him

I made the grave mistake a few weeks ago of asking on here wasn't anyone worried that we might lose Doyle in January and pulled a figure out of the air of £2million (I was also quoted in the EP to the same effect). However, I was shouted down with howls of derision at my paltry figure. So I am now stating, quite categorically, that we shouldn't let him go for anything less than £10 million. However, I believe another team will pay that for him and I am more concerned that, come January, he could well be off and, yes we'll have made a profit, but WHO would come in in his place?

Let's just not sell him.

He's just got settled in and his Mum is here too.

I think she plays right back (in the flat).

Woodcote Royal
Chip_Shop_Matt £5m, 2 cases of guiness and a sack of spuds.

Agreed but I'd expect nothing less than King Edwards.
Has King Edward got £5M, 2 cases of "guiness" and a sack of spuds?

If we're assuming that come January Man U are set on Doyle, which was the original question, we have to assume Doyle has scored at least 10 goals.

Now considering it's Man Utd and they consistantly pay over the odds for players. (Rooney, Ferdinand, Carrick) and Doyle is contracted until 2009. we don't need to sell, in fact we'd be better off not selling as we've struggled to attract players and we're a bit short of proven talent upfront.

That all says to me that we should be asking Utd for about £8-10M with a few add ons.

If the question is what is Doyle actually worth right now. Then I'd say about £2-3M
If the question is what is Doyle worth to us given our squad and situation right now. I'd say £4-5M

Doyle is a royal!

by knights_1990 » 28 Sep 2006 11:24

Doyle is a royal, you lot are crazy he would not leave us. Hence by the way how desperate he was to sign his new long contract. So he has no price tag. Coppell is not stupid he would not listen to offers.

But honestly 12.5m is respectable.

Steve
