How about Andy Bernal? Always gave 100% and did a very capable job at right back and centre back.

I remember David McDonald who played on loan from Spurs in the 92/93 season at right back and thinking he was a really sound defender. I dont think we could afford the wages at the time and then a few years later he ended up on the football scrap heap at peterborough! I would say Keith Mcpherson is the one player that stands out for me though- a very solid player that did all the neccesary things at the back without any fuss.

mattmartin89 When we won promotion, i read countless articles about Sonko not having a chance against players such as henry....he has proved all his critics wrong and had Wayne Rooney in his pocket for the whole 90 minutes...he's doing us proud..

He hasn't played henry!

Turns8 How about Mick Gooding, Jeff Hopkins and Dariusz Wdowcyk

One of those is the best player Reading ever had.

The other two arent.

Royalcop
Good shout for Keith Jones, the abuse he used to get sometimes made me ashamed to be a Reading fan.

But yet another real footballer who made the game look easy and effortless and therefore got accused of being 'useless and lazy' by those who like to see lots of huff and puff with limited skill.
