What time do the players get to the ground?

by londinium » 16 Oct 2006 23:06

I normally get to the ground about 30 - 60 mins before kick off. This week against Arsenal I will get there really early due to circumstances. Does anyone know how much before kick off the players normally get to the ground? so my kids can get a few autographs.

If it's the away team you're after you're wasting your time. Full height barriers have been erected aroiund the coach parking areas and the coach will drive straight in so no-one will see them disembark.

This is for simple health & seaftey reasons - there were several hundred people crowded around there for the Man Utd. match - including a large number without tickets for the game.

As well as the risk of crush injuries the crowd was spilling out into the road and there were very nearly some serious incidents.

Most other Premier League grounds have a tunnel that the coach disappears into to sort this problem out - we don't ,so the screens are the solution that the club has come up with.

Was told that the high barriers were at the request on Chelsea by a steward, is that not right then?

Perhaps the extension will include proper planned coach parking, worth a mention to the club i would have thought.

Heaven forbid I was ever going to get a sensible answer!!!

As my Location suggests, It would be the home team that my kids want the autographs of. Although I feel I shouldn't have to justify myself, I will anyway. Reading fan for 30 years and kids have been fans since birth of course.

If there is anybody who can answer my question without taking the piss or questioning which team I support I would be most grateful.

Doubt it, the stadium manager was telling us how difficult the crowds were for the Man U game and how dangerous the weight of numbers were and that was why the barriers were erected. As the converation occurred at the stadium expansion exhibition you can be sure it has been thought about in that context.

Our players usually arrive between 1230 and 1 and are usually very patient in signing autographs as they walk down to the players entrance.

The players have to be there at least 90 minutes before the game.
Some arrive a lot earlier. Hummers are tricky bastards to park.

Oh, I thought you were after Theirry Henry's autograph. I retract my earlier post.

But sadly it misses out matches played on Bank holidays or the 1.30 pm kick-offs on Sundays.

The tall barriers.. are perminant..

It is for health and safety reasons, someone was hurt a few weeks back as people waited for players to come out. So this is now in place
