£0 based on his fluffed header from the corner that Sidders scored from.
£10,000,000 based on the goal he did get.

So on average that suggests £5M

No Hoops He will go nowhere in Jan or the summer. I can see him signing a new deal at the same time as Sidders. Prob 20/12/06.

An early Xmas pressie for us all.

Another new deal? He only just signed one at the arse end of last season to keep him here until 2010? didn't he?

I think Heskey went for 5m, Pennant 7m, Doyle is twice the player Heskey is , his only failing is he does n´t fall over like Heskey. and at least 50% better than Pennant , so 10m . Johnson, went for 8m, who will score more goals and will contribute 8-10 penalties a season so a final figure of 8m will be about right as he contributes a lot more than Johnson in other directions. He could get a hattrick tonight , if he does then we can ask 10m if any club come sniffing around.

A question I was talking to a Man City friend of mine last night and he thinks Doyler missed heading in the second goal, I told him it was because Sidwell told him to leave it. Was I right????

Price is often related to length of contract and willingness to sell.

As Doyle is under a long contract and we don't want to sell him his value as a young premiership/international striker who can get better with age has to be pretty high.

Doyle said in an interview that he got a call to leave it, and Sidwell in an interview said that he didn't call and Doyle missed it.

Maybe a Spurs player did a Cureton and called Jacks?!

Now Doyle is an international goal scorer, we'll have to raise his price by another £1m.

(Can't see Reading selling him for any price until the summer. There is no way Madjeski would risk going down in return for a few million quid after he's spent £40 million to get them in the Premier League.)

All this talk about 'selling'.

Lets forget about that, he's not replaceable at the moment !!

Who cares if other clubs want him. Reading are up and coming. We're in the Premiership. we want to stay there. We WILL stay there.

Can anyone see a replacement ? NO thought not

There's a difference between what he's worth and what we value him at. Anything below 16 million we should turn down IMO. We are not going to be able to get a replacement for him on the cheap and he is vital to our side. Im not saying he's worth 16 million to other clubs but he's such an important player to our side I wouldn't want to see him go for any less.

I personally don't think there will be much if any bids for Doyle in Jan. Even though we may think he is the real deal many top teams may want him to prove himself over the length of the season (or two) before they splash the cash.
They have seen too many one season wonders (i.e Ricketts, Stead) to gamble a lot of cash on an individual in his first season in the top flight. And the way Reading are playing it will have to be a top team to prise him away from reading (ManU, Chelsea, the Ars & Liverpool only), and that applies to the rest of the team, unless wages is an issue(i.e Sidwell).

Doyle comes across as a sensible young man, I feel certain that greed will not enter his head at this time, folk compare to A Johnson, but he scored over three seasons inc 1 in the Prem, he bided his time and got a good move to Everton, I would think AJ is on about £1.5m a year.

I would like to see Doyle do the same and end up with a top 4 club.

He seems like someone with a his feet on the ground.

If I was him I would consider the prospect of moving very seriously because whilst it seems good on paper - once there things can change.

Take Wright-Phillips.Great at Man.City then to Chelsea where they hardly play him.

Stuart Pearce did say at the time of the World Cup with all the debate about strilkers that he felt if he had stayed with them and continued week in week out playing he would probably have gone.

With Doyle now on international duty if say he moved to Chelsea -
doesnt start many games he would put that in jeopardy.

Its OK years down the road with a big bank balance - but cant replace those regrets.
