when an opposition player gets booked you could sing
'two more, youve only got two more, you've only got two more, you've only got two more' to the same tune as shane longs song.

How about if one of our team gets a yellow then you could sing:

Two more cards then a red
he's got two more cards then a red
He's got two more cards
Two more cards
Two more cards then a red.

(coming round the mountain)

You dont want to wish charlton to have 3 yellows now do ya!

If you want to sign that then it should be:

Two more YELLOWS then a red
he's got two more YELLOWS then a red
He's got two more YELLOWS
Two more YELLOWS
Two more YELLOWS then a red.

It's along time ago, so it's difficult to believe that Poll was reffing then, but I have an inkling that he was in charge in the cup game when Elm Park was iced over and Southamton tried to wimp out of the game. He insisted it was playable and we tonked them, leaving Souness fuming and banging on to the tabloids about how unfair it was.

A good decision for us though. Can anyone confirm who the ref was? I've tried searching and can find nothing about it.

I've now convinced myself it wasn't him. Any idea who it was?

This is all rather sad, why not just go to the game and see whats sung like the good old days. Off the cuff humour

This is like a school play rehersal

Found Mike Riley on Wikipedia:

Riley does have his fans however. He is especially well-liked by Chelsea's José Mourinho, and has often been accused of favouritism towards Chelsea, most notably in their controversial 1-0 win at Reading F.C on October 14, 2006, where one respected observer noted that his 'bias towards Chelsea came close to causing a riot.'

Best referee in the land.

I'm sure I read that somewhere !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, who'll be watching Poll if the Reading lads are turning it on like on Sunday.

Please please don't be giving Graham Poll any grief. What you don't want is a ref who wants to get even!

1960, I am sure that Mr Poll was the Ref in the Southampton game.

Also memorable for the magic picture of Souness trying to have a go at Poll with the Head Stewart, Big Clive, stood in his way.

I'd love to hear a chant praising the ref cos they'd be bound to treat it as a piss-take. Something like:

"Graham Poll is a legend, is a legend"

(to the tune of David Kitson what a bargain!)

Perfectly suited to when he gives us our 2nd penalty of the game

...and then revert back to "The referees a w@nker" minutes later when he gives a decision against us.

I'm not sure how safe this is:

We used to always arrive early and applaud the ref and his team when they circled the pitch for their warm-up.

The more we applauded, the more the ref's decisions seemed to go against us, so we stopped doing it.

We now stay in the pub and arrive just in time for the teams coming out.

Chants about the ref? Surely he is not the star of the show? All you're doing is boosting his ego.
