Sweet Caroline

by Schards#2 » 20 Nov 2006 15:19

I'm sure there's been a thread about this before but i'm buggered if I can find it. In short.....

It's Crap
It's uninspiring
It has no relevence to Reading
It's inappropriate for a football game
No one sings it

Please give it a rest and have get a sensible and appropriate piece of music for the teams to walk out to.

Agree that it's poor to walk out to - but would still love to hear it after we score.

Firstly, it has relevance to the players at the club.

Secondly, there were a number of people singing it in Y21.

Agreed it does not get the crowd going. On the otherhand the video & music beforehand raises the heartbeat and also seems to shut up most away fans who are glued to it too.

It carries memories from last season but certainly don't play it after we score! No music after we score, please.

The problem was that a lot of people couldn't actually hear it on Saturday either

i was speaking to little and he loves it as its a song the players requested to be doine before the game to get people singing to it like thay were on may day that was amazing and would inspire any players.Im forever blowing bubbles has far less relavance to west ham seeing the player bubble only ever played once for them.Look at what that does for players of the team.SO i say lets sing it evey week

I like it. It's a good idea and is at least something that's come from the players rather than the dreadful Tom Hark thats been foisted on us. Also at least its orginal. By the way what has Delilah got to do with Stoke?

I must be going deaf in my old age then because I sit in Y25 and I'm buggered if I heard them. Agree with Schards, it's shite.

Sweet Caroline does nothing for me. Let's have a burst of shall we? It's gloriously kitsch, the opposition won't know what to make of it and we can laugh in their confused little Premiership fat-cat faces and best of all for Reading supporters no words to join in with 8)

Schards#2 It has no relevence to Reading
Does it not bring back a flood of memories relating to the Derby game? - Does for me and that's the only reason I like the song!

I'd prefer to hear it after the final whistle when we win, not pre-game. On the plus side it has some meaning to our players and they probably requested it. That's good enough for me, at least it's not likely to give the opposition players a boost.

Schards#2 No one sings it
Whereas we all sang along to the entrance themes which came before it.... especially that Robbie Williams song that seemed to stick around an entire season

Guilty.... I'm often transfixed on the big screen as it shows highlights of the season so far.
