Certainly the last season for Gallagher as he has been considering retirement since 2002.The FA have made an exception for Gallagher(49) who has passed the cut off age for select group refs which is 48.
Gallagher was temporarily removed from the select group list in August this year following the Ben Thatcher incident on Pedro Mendes were he only awarded a yellow rather than a straight red.
The official is no stranger to criticism. Gallagher has twice previously been demoted - for failing to dismiss Arsenal defender Steve Bould for a professional foul in 1998 and only cautioning Robbie Keane in 2001 after he slapped David Beckham .
He adopts a low key attitude to refereeing games, but isn’t afraid to bosh the cards when required. Fans like him because he shows sense and keeps the cards in his pocket unless it is absolutely necessary.

Why is everyone fascinated with Poll? He aint that bad. He made a poor mistake in not giving us a pen but apart from that he had a good game.

Not saying Poll is great but there are FAR FAR worse refs than him.

He's been made to look an idiot for the card farce, was a silly mistake but at least he's not like Riley and the rest who miss the really bad things.

He's a good bloke , shared a few beers with him in Japan 2002 WC.

He is amongst the more lenient refs out there and generally lets the game flow. Uses common sense more than most but in my view sometimes prone to bottle out of contentious decisions.

Yup Bowman he was 4th official under Styles for the Tottingham home game .Possibly another as he was suspended for a couple of months from Select group reffing so having him potter about the touchline was due punishment .

With all this debate raging on about football referees. We should be the first group of football fans to sing the referees name and support the ref even if he makes a bad decision.

Lets lead by example at Reading FC and sing songs in support of Dermot Gallagher next Saturday at Fulham.

He also never seems to add on much injury time,as if he's in a hurry to get home to Banbury.
It's his last season I think.

Steve Bennett is the worse for me, terrible ref who always seems to want to be the centre of attention. Poll isnt that bad compared to him, I always though Steve Dunn was one of the best let the game flow and used his commonsense rather than the rule book which unfortunately alot of bad refs hide behind.
