Rob-Royal That's very achievable and will mean at the 1/2 way stage we should only require the same amount of points again from the reamining 19 games to stay in the prem.

These 8 games are going to be massive, not least as we're home for 5 of them, No13 will need to be at their best which I have no doubt we will be.

We all know, Coppell especially, that these are the games which will make or break our season and with players like Convey, Kiston & Murty returning from injury will be a defining chapter in how we will do....

and in the second half of the season we have

newcastle, watford, sheffield,

a different proposition from man utd, chelsea and arsenal!

JC
Huntley & Palmer The key for us is not to draw games. We seem to not be able to do it much in the last four seasons, not since we went on that nine game drawing streak in Division 2. In fact we have drawn the less games than Man Utd and Chelsea in the Prem.

Keep that up, get to 26 points before Boxing Day and we have a very realistic chance of staying up.

I should say so! That would only leave us needing to get 14 points from 19 games to reach 40 points which should be safe. In fact if we matched that 26 points in the second half of the season that would give us a figure not far off a UEFA cup place

West Ham went down on 42pts IIRC

In a 38 game season, they remain the only Premiership era side to go down with more than 40 points. One or two others have got 40 and gone down.

Whilst I'm sure Reading are more than capable of beating Charlton this weekend it's one of those matches that that fall into the 'banana skin' category in view of Charlton being bottom of the league, on a losing run & a new manager, we've seen it all before. Saying that if Reading can treat the match as 'just another game' they should get the three points. I think sometimes you can 'over prepare' for a match but I'm sure Steve will keep the lads on their toes.

Since it went to 20 teams 3 have been relegated with 40 or more points. In that time the average points of the team finishing 18th was 36.3 so , as I said, 40 should be safe.

londinium I guess this only goes to prove what a complete an utter rubbish Reading fans are at predicting results.

Just the one person predicting we would beat Spurs!!

Not so...3 of us: RG30, readingbedding and me...

Still feel very good about us having 26 pts by Christmas. :D

45 points, then I can really believe that we'll stay up.

Come May I hope we're on 55.

Just done the scoreline predictor on the BBC site for the rest of the year (yes I'm bored!) and it puts Reading in 13th on 26 points.

Good enough for me

:D

T.R.O.L.I.
Royalwaster Tottenham H - lose
Charlton H - draw
Fulham A - lose
Bolton H - lose
Newcastle A - lose
Watford A - lose
Blackburn H - draw
Everton H - lose

I guess I get the prize for most pessimistic supporter on here - 2 points! However, it's all conditional on the next two games - if we steal a win from any of them, I'd so we'll get more from the rest because our confidence will be up. If we don't I can see serious trouble ahead.

You're not wrong there - 1 game in and we've already got 1 more point than you thought we'd have. Keep the pessimism up though as it seems to work.

Yep seems to work for me ... I was sure all last season we'd blow it and hey we didn't! Similarly, the number of times in a game I've predicted that the other team will score and we go and nick one can't be a coincidence. So my prediction is zero points for the remaining 6 games! :D

That Friday Feeling Tottenham H
Charlton H
Fulham A
Bolton H
Newcastle A
Watford A
Blackburn H
Everton H

I'd be reasonably happy with 8 points from those games, come Xmas still on target for 40 points. Any more than that would be most excellent.

9 out of 9 so far - 22 points and another 5 games 'til the halfway point.

Outstanding!

Heady days...I thought we would draw at Craven Cottage so had us on 20 pts by now and 26 after Everton (win at Newcastle (GR is still there and Duff is injured), draw at Watford, draws at home to Blackburn and Everton and a loss to Bolton)...that would still be a great milestone, but 28 or 29 points and a postive gd is now realistic.

URRRRRRRRRRRRZZZZZZZ!!!!

Big Ern Well thant oxf*rd that we have got those last few games out they way. We have, on paper anyway, easier games now to restore some confidence and get more points.

How many points does the 'Hobnob Massive' think we'll get from this lot

Tottenham H
Charlton H
Fulham A
Bolton H
Newcastle A
Watford A
Blackburn H
Everton H

Madmick is the only one to get it right so far 4 out of 4. Will we win the next 4 as he predicted :D

A point at Newcastle on Wednesday and we could go clear in third.
