Burnley predictions

by Barry the bird boggler » 02 Jan 2007 08:05

Hate to say it but can see our reserves getting turned over on Saturday, bet its a goal from Panicbuyi as well. At least our record of never beating a league side in the FA Cup at the Madejski stadium over 90 minutes will be maintained though!

Reading 0 Burnley 1

I really hope we have a decent cup run this year, but I reckon this one will be dodgy with the reserves in. In these royal record breaking times, what's the chances of bettering our woeful FA Cup history?

But if Moroniho is right, our reserves being top of the league, we can see how they'd cope in the Championship! :)

To better it, we'd actually need to get to the final, so I think we'd all settle for that.

But I really do hope we take the cup seriously - that's my one criticism of SC over recent years, that we've seen the FAC as an irritation and a risk, rather than as an opportunity.

A narrow win for the 'B' team. I wonder which first team players (if any) get to make an appearance.

I think we should take the cup seriously this season. Last season I didn't mind so much because I would much rather have won the league but this season we are well on our way to staying up and I cant see us getting Europe so the FA Cup is the only thing we have left to play for.

i think thats wrong

we have treated it as an opportunity, to play our second string, keep them happy, prove their fitness and ability, and to rest our tired and small first team squad,

and i reckon the team will contain hunt, shane long, lita, gunnarson, oster, bikey and maybe harps and ivar too so wont be that weak a side

plus anyone we get in this week!!??

oir am i being too optimistic about the window?

Heard on the radio this AM, from the man himself, that there is a chance Kitson could be involved, if so probably no more than a few minutes as a substitute but will certainly help lift things over the next few weeks.

As to team selection it will be interesting as the '1st team' are knackered yet some are going to have to play due to injury and suspension (Sodje I think as it takes a few days for the FA to ratify the paperwork).

But then perhaps something might happen in the transfer market (not holding breath though).

Just the name somewhere on the team sheet would be lovely.

Interesting line up possibility given the recent exertions,

Federici

de la Cruz (assuming Halls injured?),
Bikey,
Sodje, (assuming ban was WHU?),
Golbourne, (assuming he's back from Wycombe? Last played 18th Nov but OS suggests he still there.)

Seol,
Oster,
Hayes, (or Harper who seems to have limitless reserves of stamina)
Hunt

Long,
Joseph-Dubois, (or Lita if Sir SC wants to keep his confidence going)

Subs:
Hahnemann
Ingimarsson
Kitson
Convey
Harper (or Hayes, see above)

If Golbourne is still at Wycombe, then Hunt will have to go to Left back, but who on left midfield?

The old barrel is looking pretty empty!!!! I think that team might struggle but at least they'd get a bit of expereicne I suppose.

A Lazarus-like recovery today!

"Thankfully I was able to come off and rest up and fingers crossed I can play Saturday."
