Buses for Burnley tonight

by Forbury Lion » 09 Jan 2007 09:00

I was chatting to a friend of mine who called Reading Buses yesterday, He said they told him buses would be leaving 30 minutes earlier than normal (due to rush hour traffic) to start the pickups.

Personally, I'm assuming the 8pm evening kickoff timetable will be followed.... Has anyone heard differently?

Anyone coming from Newbury, just called up Newbury Buses and the 78 Bus is leaving newbury at 6:08 and will get to Thatcham Broadway at about 6:26.

Note Bust tickets brought on Saturday are not vaild and new ones will need to be brought (money grabbing....)

£5.50 from pick up at Henwick Lane / Northfield Road might be the same from the Broadway (or a couple of pence cheaper)..

The bus company still have to pay drivers and pay for fuel so I guess it's not unreasonable for them to charge, Afterall they did provide us with a journey there and a journey on the correct date as stated on our tickets.

Could you ask your friend why they load up so slowly? I'm sick of listening to the whiners in the queue (especially northern Know-it-alls) and would like to be able to respond.

"Reading Bus no79 doesn't load more than one bus at a time or take any other form of action to speed things up because of x,y z"

I don't mind the waiting but may be forced to knock the next Northern moaner out (which could be tonight - if he's small and on his own)

When you have a queue with three buses' doors open people get on the one with most space,
as this fills up people start getting on the next one which is fine until bus 4 opens it's doors and everyone gets on this leaving bus 1,2,3 left three quarters full

.with none of the buses full more people would end up waiting for the second "round" of buses,

This used to occur before they changed it to the one bus at a time system they have now,

p.s no i don't work for reading buses

If there are twelve bus loads of people waiting and only six buses, why not open the doors to all six?

Anyone know why people are soooo reluctant to go and sit down upstairs on the buses from Caversham?.

This has led to situations in the past, where because people will not move down or go upstairs, and the bus actually leaves for the stadium with empty seats still available upstairs.

I just cannot understand the mentatility of these w*nkers?. I also thought that the driver has a sort of periscope mirror to check if seats are available upstairs?. Have these all been removed from the modern buses ?

not just the caversham bus!

station buses and shire hall buses suffer the same problem. seems people thnk that if the fill the downstairs to stand only the driver will think the bus is full and leave a bit quicker

in the end it just slows everything down

I guess some people just want to get off the bus quickly coz the want to run for a train or feel they'll get oiut of shire hall one cycle of lights quicker
