Reading v Wigan Athletic
Tuesday 30th January
Madejski Stadium, 8pm kick off
Reading will be hoping to overturn our 1-0 defeat at the JJB in August
http://www.royals.org/matdoc/260806.html and attempt to stop the most recently founded team in the Premiership being the first to do the double on us this season. While reading have often been heralded as "this year's wigan" any observer or reporter looking further than both teams success in their inaugrial season in the premiership will notice a distinct contrast.
While both clubs have chairman who have built new stadiums and dictated a desire for premiership football the approach has been somewhat different. When Wigan lined up for their first premiership game against Chelsea in 2005 only 2 of the starting eleven from their previous games 3-1 win over Reading were on show. Reading contrastingly stuck with 10 of the players who played against QPR in their final Championship match for their first premiership match against Middlesbrough with only the injured Bobby Convey missing out.
In previous meeting honours have been fairly even with Reading winning 12 and Wigan 13 (out of 33). At home however Reading have been dominant winning 10 from 16.

If you can't be bothered to read
this
the general comments are that they lost a lot of good players since last season, they no longer attempt to play good passing football and they no longer seem to have the same passion. They all think Emile Heskey is pure class, think we will find it much tougher next season. They see their future as highely dependant upon who they purchase in the next transfer window. There is also some discussion as to famous fans with names such as Michael Gorbachev, Kim Marsh and the wizard from lord of the rings. These are spurious at best.
