New bus service from Winners, Wokkers, Brackers

I was tempted to try it but at the price publicised it's as cheap to drive and park and no worries about getting on or getting back. I'm all for services like this but they need to be cheaper to entice lazy gits like out of their cars.

Let's say your car costs 25p per mile to run (including everthing... taxes, wear and tear....) and you live in the centre of Wokkers. Using the M4, it's a 22 mile round trip to the stadium. That's 5 Pounds and 50 Pence

It's cheaper.
You get driven to and from the ground.
You don't have the walk to your free parking space perhaps half a mile from the ground, in the rain.
You can have a pint.
You get a little exercise walking to the bus stop.
You can chat to people in the queue/bus.

wrong because you have not factored into the equation that you still have the car after for other uses.

You can only use a percentage of the running costs in the equation, if at all as they are fixed and already paid.

The comparison really gets shot to pieces as soon as more than one person travels in the car.

Agreed - its true that there are way too many variables to get an exact figure, but the example shows that for some people (not all), this is a service that will save them money, and add value to the day out.

I drive 22000 miles a year just to get to work, have relatives in Scotland, my other half doesn't drive, and she's planning a driving holiday in the South of France. Am I happy to pay an extra Pound to get the bus to footie? Too right I am.

Left at 13.49 arrived at 14.23 so schedule is a bit optimistic.

Home by 10 to 6 from a late finish -.
Will use again and recommend this over driving hands down.Had a beer or two to celebrate the goals too.

It was late because they missed a turning onto Norreys from the Bean Oak start, so had to go around the houses a bit after picking up at Broad Street to get back to Norreys. A teething problem, surely. No reason for the bus to go down Rectoray Road on the way back, so Broad Street was missed! Even though it put 30 seconds walking time onto it...

I did mention it as I always do when getting my Man City bus ticket, that I would like to see STAR adopt similar pick up points.

Another slight problem I have is the 'safety' fence, again. It made me have to circle the stadium in order to reach the buses. Not all clubs have such a stupid policy of a safety fence. I can see me missing the return bus in the future as circling the stadium means getting sucked up in all the crowds. We really need to ditch this stupid fence now!

I dont think they need to ditch it, just make a fenced path going around back of the south stand to Hurst Way.

Excellent! 5 pounds dropped us right outside and picked us up outside, no queing, and back home just before 6. Will use it every game from now on. Much better than the train. Lets hope we keep it.

Was great, £2.50, no rush to get out of stadium and picked up just 2 minutes down the road!

I caught a bus from Farnborough. It ran on time. We picked up about 30 other passangers on the way to the ground. On the way back the journey to Farnborogh took less than an hour and we were dropped off at the end of our road. Highly recommended. I asked the stewards at the ground if they could sell programmes on the buses in future. The buses will run for evening games as well as weekends.

:) I caught a bus from Farnborough. It ran on time. We picked up about 30 other passangers on the way to the ground. Excellent service. Back in my house by 6pm.

As I sit at the back of the East Stand, it takes a oxf*rd age to get out of the ground, let alone round the stadium to get to the buses. ... why not have all the local buses for local people parked up in the same place?

Also, please write 'WOKKERS' or 'FARNERS' on a piece of paper stuck to the windscreen so that people know which bus to get on.
"It's on the sign at the front of the bus" doesn't work when the buses are parked 6 inches nose to tail, in the dark.

This is not a bitch - as I said - excellent service.

Yes I do because I would have been able to beat the crowds, unlike letting them build up in the time it took me to circle the stadium. I appreciate not everyone would be able to rush, but on the whole I think the fence 'assists' the crowds. Not everyone would like to go past the fence anyway. For this reason I think the fence is possibly more of a hinderance than help as it is creating an awful backlog on the East Stand whilst holding people like me away from their buses.

Can you tell me what time it got back to Bracknell, and how popular it was? We didn't get out of the car park until 6pm last night, and I really don't want to be hanging around for that length of time again

Got back at 6, no rush out of stadium either. One double decker bus load, quite a lot of seats left, but of course word will get around and i'm sure it'll become more popular.
