B18 The original plan was for the North and South to be done first .... i wonder why the change ?!

Oct-Dec 2007 - Complete North & South Stands
Oct-Dec 2008 - Complete East Stand

They also asked for peoples opinions on which would b done 1st. I guess the east stand won

i suppose you have to bear in mind the possibility of us going down next season, which could put a halt to the expansion.

If they extended the North & South & then shelved the East due to relegation, the ground would look a bit odd. Not so if they do the East first.

Extending the East Stand first makes more sense. It'll offer a 6000 seat increase and take us to over 30,000. I'd much rather that than see a 3500 increase behind a goal.

I do though wonder what alterations the club will make to the away end. They will have to have more seats and I would assume they will take some of the South Stand that is currently for non season ticket holders.
Meaning changes to the concourse area too to keep the fans separate, facilities, toilets etc....?

I should imagine the easiest option would be to give the whole of the south stand to away supporters again and go back to using the old segregation.

I'm sure Nigel said on Friday that it was the East Stand first. Well worth listening to the BBCRB Recording before they replace it with the next phone-in on Friday.

I don't favour that idea, easier for the club or not. Away fans always made a hell of a lot of noise when they had the 4000-4500 seats behind the goal.

I would like to see the scoreboard moved in the redevelopment - it just isn't right where it is.

I think he wants it at Stamford Bridge.

Did you see where they had there one? Probably the worse place for a scoreboard I've ever seen!

It will ultimately have to be moved. Once all three stands have been built on!

Why of course? It gets in the way.

Still not sure about the possibility of having a capacity of 38,000.
Just think that's way too much.

So when would you do it? By the time you can fill it every single week for every single match it's too late - all the advantage has been wasted.

That's what everyone said when the stadium was first built. Only time will tell I guess.

The problem being there were empty seats on Saturday so whats the point in having a 38,000 capacity?

But there haven't been for most other matches, and for at least half the matches each season we could sell the 38000 twice over.

Sometimes you need to invest to succeed. Our only long-term hope of Premier League survival is with a much bigger capacity - without it we'll always be at a disadvantage and never be able to establish ourselves.
