Sonko injury update

by RobRoyal » 22 Jan 2007 19:34

Can't see this one up yet. Official site reports that Sonko's scan was 'inconclusive' and that he will undergo an exploratory operation on tuesday. Looks like we could be missing him for a while.

Doesn't sound too encouraging.

looking ahead, next Sat probably wouldn't play, Wigan next tues, we should be ok, then man City away !! Should like him to play that, specially as we're going, but perhaps with a couple of games under the belt Bikey might fit or DLC or perhaps Gunnarson back ?

Any preferences ??

How about Sodje?
Shouldn't be a problem against a team like Wigan .......

They casued him enough problems last time.

We need a quality center half, quick if Sonks it out for more than a month. Time for the Chairmen to put some of our money where his mouth is.

He got murdered by Camara earlier in the season. I'd rather gamble on Bikey's temperament.

He will only be out for six months and will be fit for our European campaign.

Bikey looked ok at the weekend and maybe a couple more games under his belt and he might come up trumps, even though I still thing he looks better in a central midfield role.

I think Sodje is just too much of a risk

Given his performance on Saturday, I think it's only fair to give Bikey his chance. At least we'll be playing a Wigan side on a bad run of form.

The big problem is it's the 23rd now, we can't give Bikey 3 games to see how he does, we need to buy someone this week, someones that's of the same class of Sonko and that is gonna cost.

We are six points from "safety" with 14 games to go. Bikey will cope against the weaker teams and may make the step up. Gunnarsson is capable of doing a job when he's back. Looks like we'll add Bennet to the mix and Sonko might not be out for the rest of the season.

Coppell will not panic and spend big.

You must be fishing after his performance up there. Bikey is young, had the talent and will improve whereas Sodje is already in his late 20s, has been playing in the lower leagues all his career and doesn't have the ability. Both were a gamble, but Bikey's the only one which will work.
