Seeing as the FA Cup doesn't count towards MOTM, if Boro avoid defeat against Pompey then I reckon they'll give it to Southgate. Otherwise, SSC will get his 3rd of the season.

there is a curse spacey, just because there is little rational explanation of something does not mean it doesn't neccessarily happen.

the vast majority of teams usually perform significantly worse the season after winning manager of the month. Only teams who are far and away superior to the rest of the league don't usualy suffer. Like us last season and probably Man U this season

Probably something to do with the fact that is a manager of a mid-table team won MOTM, its more than likely that team played some of the lesser sides in the division that month and thus play the stronger sides the following month (unless, as you say, its won by a manager of a "superior" side).

No curse at all, just down to the randomness of the fixtures computer.

It's not a curse in the supernatural sense, but there is strong evidence to show that winning it will show a severe down trend in your performance so it would suggest a "curse" if you get what I mean.

If Sir Steve wins manager of the month for masterminding the defeat of teams as poor as West Ham and Sheffield Utd I will lose all respect for the award.

I would imagaine it's hard to predict who will get the Feb award, until the Feb games have been played.

I'm all for Coppell getting the recognition he deserves, but surely Wenger should be the winner this month?

Blunt and to the point!

Given his record this month, I'd be disappointed not to win it if I were Wenger. 5 games, 5 wins, 17 goals and three games still to come.

If Arsenal avoid defeat in those games, it should really go to Wenger.

But there is a rational explanation....

The manager gets awarded MOTM because the side has put in an exceptionally good performance in that month. So it stands to reason that it's unlikely that they'll do as well in the following month.

Unless they play at exactly the same level every month this is always going to happen - you always get a drop after a peak - nothing to do with a curse at all.

that would explain a small dip in form. not losing most of the games in the next month. Next!
