I thought Goater was also one who never forgot where he came from and was always looking to give something back; but he was just a lazy moneygrabber according to some, so what do I know.

Shaun Goater is a hero to me. I got the chance to meet him a couple of times and he's a lovely man. I don't think he ever meant a goal he scored, the ball just hit him and occasionally went in, but like De La Cruz his heart's completely in using his money to help kids where he grew up.

Let's hope that a tinge of embarrassment and/or guilty feelings comes over some of the Keyboard warrior w*nkers who post hateful drivel about the likes of DLC and other squad members, who actually lead honourable and dignified lives away from the football pitch

Shame on you fickle RFC fans - the ugly face of Reading Football club !

Most (if not all) people on here are more than able to separate the person from the footballer. Comments regarding someone's ability are completely separate from personal attacks.

I for one did not think DLC was good enough and am happy to be proved wrong - I have always been aware of his charitable work and do not see why that should stop be from voicing an opinion on him as a football player.

I heard the interview late last night on the World Football slot that they do at 2 in the morning.

I have a lot of respect for the man.

Miles away from the bollox Baby Bentley culture of some players.

higher DLC DLC DLC Big man.

A whole 10% of his salary!!!

I'm sorry but no matter how much one earns one doesn't give away a whole 10% of one's salary to charity. That's incredible.

Sonko is Superman!
Bikey is Spiderman!
DLC IS MOTHER TERESA!!!!

Nice one DLC. You've won me over permanently, even if you play rubbish in every game. I only hope you don't play rubbish so you stay longer, earn more and these poor guys out there get more support.

If it's so cheap, Spacey, why don't YOU pay the wages of an ecuadorian doctor, dentist & nurse?
or a Builder, Policeman, Sailor and Red Indian if you prefer.

or Harper's whole season 2 or 3 seasons ago?
But I have to say his last couple of games were sound compared with his first outing at Madstad, so maybe he should start v. Wigan
