Lowest league crowd of the season tonight?

Good point about Hull and a well supported rugby team..To be fair though, most people I know from Wigan are Man Utd fans. Hull have no large clubs nearby.

But I really think it is time that some of the big clubs (Forest, Sheff Wed, etc) come back up to help give the premiership a boost in attendance.. Blackburn, Bolton and Wigan get some pretty awful crowds..

There was very few empty Reading seats. Fair play to the Wigan faithful for turning up but their numbers were really pitiful. About 500ish from what i could see

Disgusting turn out by Wigan tonight, hopefully we've sent them closer to the drop. It's a shame because Jewell's a decent manager and the town just doesn't deserve him or Whelan.

I was referring to the town as a whole in terms of those who didn't bother to turn up.

What so each individual Man United fan made more effort than each individual Wigan fan? We spent so long being the club with small attendances and now its as if we have no consideration for clubs with smaller fan bases. In reality theres nothing wrong with not taking many fans, what does it matter? Who cares? Such a load of nonsense and i always hear it coming from football fans.

Makes me laugh when the Reading fans were singing songs about how bad the Wigan fans were. These songs were being sung to people who had just travelled nearly 200 miles on a week night to see their team lose their 8th consecutive game.

If we're in a similar position next season, how many do you think we'd take up there, once the first premiership season novelty has worn off a bit? Probably more than they brought down to us, but not many more.

Hear, hear. People need to get a grip with the whole fans thing.

To travel half the length of the country on a weeknight, meaning taking 1 if not 2 days off work, paying Â£30 to get in and whatever transport costs are involved. Add that to the fact that your team are on the worst run in their history and the fact that you could probably see the game live on Arabian TV or the internrt - it's not hard to see why many decided not to bother last night.

The thing is, I don't think that many more would have made it for a Saturday 3pm kick off! That isn't the fault of those that DID make it - it just sums up the fact that Wigans numerical support is terrible.

Fair shout to them though - I'm definately in the camp that says its ironic for our fans to take the piss out of as loyal a bunch of supporters as any in the Premiership as those blokes that made the trip from Wigan last night are.

We took around 300 to Wigan on a Friday night a few years back, so I don't think our resident twats in Y26 are in any posiition to take the piss.

As Stranded says, we need to a get a grip with the whole fans numbers issue.

We castigate Man Utd for being a load of glory hunters, and then slag off WIgans small, hardcore support. Which is it to be?

It's just any excuse to have a go at the opposition fans - if they had sold out it would be "we support our local team".

Looks like for many who come these days, abusing the opposition fans is much more fun than actually supporting Reading.
