Give Federici a chance......

by Basingstoke Royal » 31 Jan 2007 09:14

Marcus has not been as good this season. He was at fault for both goals today and guilty of flapping at Andy Johnsons header against everton. Federici has looked excellent when he has played and deserves a start in the premiership.

And USA was responsible for both goals last night. I think we will sign a new keeper in the summer, but at present he is still the best we've got.

Marcus as also saved more shots on target than any other keeper in the League (At least that's what SKY said on the Everton Commetry).

Shocking distribution at times though.

.......and hit was a hard, well hit shot.

Not as bad as Kirkland's, and he is supposed to be one of the best English keepers at present.

Kirkland was shocking yesterday an I'd rather have Marcus over him anyday. However there are better keepers out there, and Afed isn't that far off proving he could be one of them.

the marking was poor for the first goal. Worst game i think i have seen Ivar have in a Reading shirt, but Marcus should never have been beaten by that shot at his near post and within reach.

Thought the only players who played up to the normal high standards were Murty, Little, Lita and Long.

Thought that Heskey hit that ball so hard it was past USA before he could move, agree with players up to standard and thought Harps should be included as well, as for Bikey  needs more reserve games to get confidence up as he has everything else

Totally disagree. The back 5 have played together for the best part of 3 seasons, you don't break that up because of a couple of mistakes. Marcus is what he is - that is a reasonable keeper. Not as good as some in the Prem but better than many.

There is no way that SC chops and changes the team especially when its winning. Look at Robinson 9england keeper) in recent weeks for Spurs, all over the place. Kirkland - best young keeper in England, do me a favour! Carrol at West Ham - crap.

Marcus is under a bit of pressure and that's a good thing but he'll definitelt see this season out, barring calamity.

Agree with IR. The bonus is that if Marcus were to be injured, I'd have no woirries about AF stepping in.

Yes he was, you should never be beaten at your near post from 18 yards out

Exactly. Seems to have lost all confidence on crosses too. Perhaps Coppell shouldnt be hasty in making changes, but i think one more blunder and Federici should at least be given a chance in one game (when we are safe maybe).

The difference between the two can be seen in warm ups at the moment. Federici looks fresh, hungry and agile and manages to get to shots far more easily and holds a lot more whereas Marcus is slow, drops a lot and is far more casual. I'd be tempted to bring Federici in before long as he's looked excellent in the two games I've seen him play whereas I haven't seen Hahnemann have two good games all season.

Perhaps Marcus needs to double his red bull intake before games.

Perhaps Mrs H should confiscate his xbox 360 as I know from experience that excessive play can make you lose concentration at work.
