800k for a 31yo CB with Prem experience, who's currently playing in one of the tightest defence's in the Championship. Not a bad price. Offers more competition and could slot in straight away with Sonko out esp as he has something to prove to many.

That's the fee in his contract. As I say, Sonko must have a season ending injury and perhaps confidence in Bikey is not at the highest. It doesn't stand to reason that Duberry would be anything other than cover for Sonko and Ingimarsson in normal circumstances.

I think we would have happily paid 500K for a defnder who can slot straight in, is playing well and is part of a very tight defence.

the £300k extrais the January premium - I dont think its that big a price to pay. Duberry has always impressed me.

I still think we might end up signing Barnett by the way.........

Other side of the coin to my initial reaction of 'what the fcuk???' is he's an experienced defender having a very good season and at this minute would probably be a more reliable option than some of the current crop. What does it say for Sodje's future?

I would be suprised if we did. The club may want to wait until the summer to see how he performs throughout the whole season as opposed to the first half of the season as by all accounts it is only this season he has impressed so far. Then again, they may want to get in before bigger clubs become interested.

My money would be on a midfields maybe going back in for Dean Whitehead, or Gera.

Sodje looks like he is on his way out. If you look at the Luton website and the bloke on rumours who got this all spot on, Barnett was the first choice with Duberry as back up. Luton have an injury crisis so wanted cash plus players. I think we offered that (the rumour is money plus halls plus Sodje but that one player didnt want to go as he felt the side lacked ambition). That must have been Sodje. Which is also why he didnt play last night. Clearly we want rid. We then turned our attention to Duberry

Now that the Luton deal has fallen through I wonder whether Sodje may go on Loan to Stoke?

I can see why they have signed him but to be honest, I think it is steep. For just over double that, Sheff Utd signed one of the countries best young CB's.
